ATTENDING THE WRONG EXHIBITION

Make sure the event that you’re planning to attend is fit for your company.

The last thing you want is for customers to feel puzzled as to why they’re talking to you!

NOT SHOWING HOW YOU CAN HELP

The literature will not do all of the work for you at an event.

You need to make it clear how you can help each customer with their specific needs.

NOT CAPTURING ENOUGH LEADS

Make sure at the end of nearly every conversation you have with a customer (regarding your business and services, of course) that you take their contact details.

If you have a customer that could seem interested, waste no time at all by getting their details.

If they don’t hear back from you they will probably lose that interest. It isn’t their job to chase after you at the end of the day!

FAILING TO FOLLOW UP ON LEADS

As previously mentioned, it isn’t the customers job to come chasing after you…you’re meant to offer them the service.

So, make sure as soon as you get back to the office that you begin the list of follow ups.

If you do it straight away, that will mean that you’ll still be fresh in the customers mind.

USING A BORING STAND

If the stand you’re using is uninspiring, people will just walk straight past you. To prevent this from happening, use bright and bold photos and fetching word phrases to catch their eyes.

BAD MARKETING LITERATURE

This one is pretty simple, just make sure that all of your company details are written clearly and that an explanation of your service is straight-forward.

NOT DECIDING ON A CLEAR OBJECTIVE

It is vital that you and your team work together to come up with the main goal that you’d like to achieve for when the event draws to a close.

So, make that objective and work for it!

SEEMING UNFRIENDLY OR UNAPPROACHABLE

This should be an obvious one.

If you and your team look bored and unhappy and have poor body language at your stand, no one will want to approach you!

So put on a smile, stand up straight and be ready to greet customers.

NOT HAVING PROMO GOODS TO GIVE TO CUSTOMERS

You should have at least one type of promotional good at your event so customers will have something to remember you by when it is home time.

Whether that is some wristbands, badges or even just some sweets, it will act as a mental trigger that will instantly remind them of your company.

NOT BEING #SOCIABLE ABOUT THE EVENT

Social media is a free way to promote yourself.

You may as well take advantage!

Try tagging the event and the venue in a tweet and if you’re lucky they may retweet it to their many followers; including followers who are visiting the event.

Don’t forget to hashtag too!

FAILING TO FOLLOW UP FAST!

So the event has drawn to a close and you have a long list of contacts to get back to.

You shouldn’t push it to one side as the quicker you do it the more successful you will be.

“Persistence guarantees that results are inevitable!”

NOT BUILDING LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS WITH POTENTIAL

CLIENTS

The future of how successful your company will be is inevitably in your hands.

So whether you chose to put in the effort with potential clients is entirely up to you, but the more happier and friendlier you are with your clients the better business will be for you.
