A World Animal Day presentation by Antoinette Timmers

founder of Animal Care Malta

Animal Care Malta   is an officially registered non-profit voluntary organization, dedicated to the welfare of the many stray cats in Mellie a.ħWe are feeding and taking care of about 100 cats daily.A lot of kittens are found, some of them with severe eye-infections and if they’re not treated with antibiotics and eye-oinment they will end up blind, so we catch them and take them to our shelter. When they are completely healthy, we try to find good homes for them, but most of them stay with us forever....

In september 2012 we rescued 6 little ginger kittens.Their mother was killed by a car so we bottle-fed them and found good homes for them.Four of them found a good home but two of them came back to us last June because their daddy couldn’t take care of them anymore.

In october Bro was found in a field in Qormi. He was only 3 weeks old and had a very bad infected leg which was a big worry because if it wouldn’t heal it had to be amputated….We took care of him day and night to save his leg….At first he seemed to be cured but when his leg became more bended, we found out that he still had a big infection inside the bones. He was on medication until last June and on the 9th July he was operated on.He has a straight leg now!

Elaine was caught in a colony in Mellie a.ħShe’s blind and we decided to keep her here.

Stefanie was rescued from a shaft near the GO-tower in Mellie a.ħWe don’t know how she got in there but we rescued her and kept her in our Catgarden.

Banjo was found in Naxxar as a little kitten. We found a very good home for him.

Pippa was caught in a colony in Mellie a and is still ħwith us because no-one adopted her.

Fuxa was found when he was only one day old.He gave us a very hard time but he became the most WONDERFUL kitten!

Fonzi and Gussy were found with very infected eyes. They are beautiful now but still haven't been adopted.

Picolino was rescued from the Valley in Santa Maria Estate. He was only three weeks old and was in a very bad state; he had very bad flu and his eyes were very infected. We took care of him day and night for almost two months until he was adopted by a lovely family.

Ludo and Luigi were rescued from near Reflections in Mellieha. They are very feral (wild) so we can't home them and they'll staywith us.

Alex was found in a car engine in Mosta. He was in a very bad state but became a beautiful kitten. He was always together with Picolino and they were adopted together.Their names are Zorro and Bernie now.

Zebbelina just walked in one day...Most probably she was dumped here. She's very friendly but is still looking for a good forever home.

Bobby, Bibi and Balou were found when they were only 2 weeks old. After bottle-feeding them and taking a lot of care they all found very good homes!
