Romulo Pires Thinks Big

What is one to do after he has risen to the heights of the modeling world and still has energy to burn? Well, if you are Romulo Pires, you move to New York City and consider your future. Pires, who has been modeling professionally since 2001, grew up in Brazil, has taken up residence in Paris and Milan, and has been photographed for advertising campaigns everywhere in the world from Düsseldorf to Shibuya.

Despite having seen more of the world at his young age than many people will see in their lifetimes, Pires is not afraid to continue thinking big. “The Himalayas is a place that I would love to shoot, but it would probably be impossible,” Pires has said. “I have studied the history of the region, and I love it,” he continued. “I especially love Mount Everest.”

But Pires knows that in order to fully enjoy setting foot on the highest mountain peak on earth, one needs to be physically fit. Although he allows himself the occasional random slice of birthday cake when the mood hits, Pires maintains a strict regimen of Muay Thai, the martial arts combat sport from Thailand.

In fact, Pires considered a career in soccer when he was a young boy, but international stardom as one of the world’s top models got in the way of that dream.

Through his travels, Pires has learned to speak English, Italian, and some French, and is currently taking acting classes in order to add more skills to his portfolio. He is also taking cooking classes, which will come in handy, as he plans on opening a café in Brazil in the future. Obviously, Romulo Pires feels that it is important to continue one’s education as long as there are things that can be learned
