Location Scouting

Whiston Road• My partner and I have chosen to use

this block as the main block that is shown as the one our artist lived in, in our music video. Firstly the fact that the block is big, creates the image that it is towering over people below, this means that the block is superior to the people who affiliate with it; a message my partner and I want to convey is that the block was a burden on our artist, in terms of his decisions and lifestyle was all influenced by this block. Nevertheless this is the block that our artist came from, therefore shots such as low angles, will make it look like the block was constantly towering over Danny Billz’ life.

Fellows Court

• Fellows Court is a very compact area, as it has a lot of tall flats and blocks in one area. For a Grime video, this effective as it portrays to the audience how people who live in it can be suffocated/trapped by crime – as stereotypically an area that includes a lot of council estates is feared by the public, as this is where teenage crime is supposed to generate from. In my opinion pan shots of this area will create a negative image, as well as kind of giving the audience a tour of Danny Billz’s area. As you can see this area also includes little , small places such as shelters and alley ways – this could be a place in which Young DB meets his friends, as the dark lighting will correlate with me and my partners idea the youths were running the area.

Shoreditch Police Station

• This location will be shown when Danny Billz mentions himself as going in and out of prison at a young age, as well as at the end of the video, were we want to show Danny Billz coming out of the police station and Young Danny Billz is riding pass on his bike. We have chosen this location as it is the closest police station (excluding Community Police stations) to the main area in which we are filming in. The fact that this police station looks old due to its colour is effective, as it correlates with the idea of new Danny Billz riding past the current one.

Hoxton Train Station

• We have chosen this location as it is also local to where we are locating Danny Billz’s area when he was growing up. This location will only be shown, as in the lyrics Danny Billz talks about when him and his friend used to jump on the train. Pan shots and close-ups will be effective as it will show our audience the location of our artist, as Grime video constantly have shots of the artists location.

Kingsland Road

• In Potter Payper’s TBH, we see the Young PP going into his local chicken shop. In my opinion this is effective as it correlates with the idea of showing the audience your local area – the fact that a local chicken shop was shown instead of a mainstream McDonald’s or KFC, is powerful as this is the place where everyone in the local area will generally go. Also this location is on the main road, so it will be also a good opportunity to show shots of the public walking the roads that our artist was bought up on.

Black Box , Bridge Academy• My partner and I have chosen this

location as we feel it resembles an interrogation room very well. The fact that this room is small and pitch black, it creates the image that Danny Billz is being closed in. For scenes that include Danny Billz being interrogated, we will have a single spotlight pointing down on Danny Billz as a source of light, as the rest of the room will be in complete darkness.
