Antique Amber - Nature's Beautiful Gemstone
Stones are the precious jewels in the world’s culture. Had anybody thought that the
normal rocks that are found in coastal areas and mountains would provide the
mankind with the most precious gemstones? During the 17th
century, the tribes of
various nations cut these rocks and polish them in order to create these stones.
Talking about amber fossils, these were created
with the help of some left sediments trapped in
dripping the tree resins. Neither a crystal nor a
mineral, it is a pure form of hardened sap of an
ancient tree. Nobody thought that it would
become such a fine and beautiful stone of the
past.It is certainly due to million years of efforts
put together in the geological evolution to create
such Amber fossil. During resin secretion, amber
does contain animals, plants matter, insects,
spiders, webs, frogs, bacteria, amoebae, marine
microfossils, woods, flowers, fruit and hair.
Nature’s most beautiful and the oldest gem to
man commonly available in brownish-yellow Amber but also ranges from black,
green, opaque white and tusk. The uncommon ones are blue amber and even, the
cherry amber. Dominican amber is fluorescent is the rarest of all. It turns into blue
color under the natural sunlight or any ultraviolet light source.
Any ground with abundant flora and fauna coupled with the geological region creates
the best ground for such amber fossils. Its natural beauty makes it the best way to be
used in jewellery. In the ancient
times, it has been marked as a stone
to promote good health and
prosperity away from the evil spirits.
Now a day, it is also used for
constructing smoking devices and as
an ingredient in perfumes even as a
healing agent in folk medicines. Since
the early times, amber is best used as
a remedy to treat many diseases also
like stomach, ears, eyes, teeth aches.
It has been discovered that now it has
been used in treating bladder linked diseases also along with bronchitis.
The World’s leading source of Amber is in Sam land coast west of Konigsberg in
Prussia, where around 90% of the world’s extractable amber is still found. Formation
of amber takes place by mining in either open works or underground. Are you found
of gemstones? If yes, it is definitely a good choice to consider it in jewellery.
