Store (and compare) online

Do your shopping on the Internet is one of the best ways to reduce your expenses. Most supermarkets

allow you to order online discount codes, but sites like Mysupermarket allow you to easily compare

their shopping through them all.

You can actually print your shopping list online to take with you, pick up the order in the stores for free

or have everything sent home for a small fee.

Couple the savings that you will no longer fight on and off public transport with a load of groceries and

you will find that online shopping is a great option.

Claim money back in your store

Believe it or not supermarkets face stiff competition in these frugal times, leading to a race to the

bottom, as each store looking to beat each other on price.

Watch for supermarkets guaranteeing match the prices of the other (almost all of them these days).

For example, Asda has a price guarantee that you can use to check your receipts against the other

supermarkets and if not at least 10% cheaper than you will pay the difference.

Tesco also run a similar thing called the Tesco Price Promise. If not cheaper than the other, then they

give you the difference up to 10 pounds.

And not to be left out, also have a match Sainsbury brand currently offered to check that out too.

Store your right time

Most of us do not really think about the time of day we chose to go shopping. When you have to fit

around lectures, seminars and an active social life, they tend to squeeze in wherever they can.

But for the best bargains, try to shop late in the day, ideally an hour or so before closing time or in stores

about 24 hours 19:00.

All items passed from the date of the next day will be greatly reduced to get rid of them before they

have to be discarded.

There is no reason why you can not freeze some for later use and end expiration dates are not set in

stone.

Do not go shopping on an empty stomach

You've probably heard this a zillion times before, but really the golden rule is: never never never shop

when you're hungry!

If you have not eaten all day and then go to the supermarket, you're going to throw anything and

everything in your car. Having a bite to eat before going to avoid overspending manic fuel starvation.

Always write a list (and plan your meals)

Again, you've probably heard this before and quite dirty water sounds dull, but if you've never written a

grocery shopping list before that date may be surprised to see the impact it can make to your store.

Not only will you save money but also make sure you think about what you buy at home, where it is

more likely to think about what you need instead of being carried away by the time you get in the store.

Added to this you can even plan ahead for your meals (and snacks) for the week so it is less of a

guestimate of what you need and more an exact science. Yes, we know we sound like Captain Boring but

Try to own renowned brands

If you're a bit of a food snob, you've probably never considered buying own brands. But if you're a savvy

shopper, you know how much sense does this have to.

Supermarkets try all sorts of tactics to trick you into spending more, and one of these is fancy packaging.

For many branded food contents are often very similar to ownership of alternative brands.

Set a bit of a challenge, and the next time you go shopping, only buy reputable brands own

Squeeze the most out of loyalty cards

Many supermarkets offer a loyalty program, which they will offer points on their purchases that can

then be redeemed against future stores.

Get a loyalty card every supermarket. Do not be loyal! It is likely to be bought in various places, so they

have cards that will save you no matter where you are shopping this week.

Take your own bags. Usually obtain extra points if you use your own carrier bags, and saves bringing

further back.

Watch for coupons in the post. When you sign up for a loyalty card, the supermarket will gather

information on the type of products they usually buy. To persuade more visit their shops, they will often

send you coupons they think they could use.

PS. Do not do that with lemons there. That's a bad idea.

Vouchers personal loyalty are not the only way to get your hands on those little pieces of saving money

but goodness.

The Internet is flooded with coupons for almost every store you can think of, so before going out to

shop, with a quick search on the section of our offers and see what you can find.

Easy to get a little carried away by the free coupons, so use common sense. If tuna cans are less than

half the price, but I really do not like fish, it's not such a big savings.

Do not just go for the names of "big"

When it comes to shopping, we are creatures of habit. You are very likely to visit stores where your

parents buy their food, or frequent the supermarket around where you live, just because it's what you

always do.

A lot of the time, this means that you go to one of the big four.

For the best savings, shake things up a bit. Budget chains such as Aldi and Lidl offer some great deals for

those willing to venture out of your comfort zone, as well as smaller independent stores. Shop around

Buying in bulk

Sometimes offers supermarkets may seem too good to be true, and most of the time are.

Really worth keeping your wits about you and do the accounts called "specials" - not only confident

that could save five pounds for the same items elsewhere (which is more than 250 pounds / year

send it back? We are sure that you have never done done.

But if you were less than impressed with their latest shower gel or bar of chocolate, then send it back

(the address is usually FREEPOST) with reason and receipt and you will more than likely get some gifts or

refund.

Be seasonal

We know you probably have enough to think about right now, but we spare a thought for the purchase

of what is in season at the time, especially with fruits and vegetables.

If you try to buy products that are in season, there will be driven less food miles to get where he is and

will work cheaper than something that has been sent from across the world.

Treat

And to end on a pleasant note it's always good to enjoy a couple of nice things.

If you plan some sweets on your list that are less likely to splurge on tempting special offers when at the

store or, later in the week when you crave your chocolate fix. Well, that's the theory anyway.
