To do that, we supervise suspects and offenders

How does supervision be the Probation Service

work?

The Judge or

Prosecutor can impose

special conditions

to an offender or

suspect as a part of a sentence

For instance the offender must follow an anti-

agression training

Or is not allowed to

drink

Or stay away from his girlfriend

The Dutch Probation Service supervises that the offender complies with these conditions

We check that through:-home visits

-Interviews at our offices

-Alcohol and drug tests

-Electronic monitoring

We also support an offender in his efforts to

comply to these conditions

We stimulate them for instance to find a job

Or we organise the necessary psychological

help or debt relieve

Supervision by the Probation takes

minimally two years

Thereby we prevent that an offender commits

another crime

And if an offender does not comply to these conditions

and does not cooperate, there is always the prison as last

resort
