Web Traffic Pay Per Click

Tip #1: Keyword Build Outs ReversedMost people start their PPC keyword build outs discovering keywords, then writing ad copy and then finding the most relevant landing page. Google’s greatest focus is on quality and relevance. Try analyzing the landing pages, developing copy for them and then discovering your target relevant keywords. By shifting focus to post-click performance you will in turn boost quality score, lower cost per click and increase conversions.

Tip #2: Account Architecture The beginning phases of developing your account architecture is vital to your PPC success. Your main goal is to have targeted groups of keywords with ad copy that speaks directly to the user’s query. Consider adapting the same hierarchy of the navigation on your website when creating campaigns. Keywords with similar orientation tend to perform similarly. You can now align your bidding strategy and come out of the gate positioned for success.

Tip #3: Websites Don’t Fail to Convert, We Do Don’t get caught up in computer calculations alone. Searchers are people too. Walk through the scenario of the search, analyze the search engine results verses your ad copy and your landing page. You will find most often that with some tweaks, you are just a few edits away from getting superior results.

Tip #4: Don’t Forget Where Search Came From New PPC advertisers tend to focus on the industry leading keywords, leaving endless amounts of new cost effective sales or sign-ups on the table. Finding alternative search words that describe your product, service, and or offering, combined with developing hundreds of permutations of these words, will position you time after time where your competitors are not.

Search Engine Optimization Tip #5: Be Sure That Your Page(s) Content Focuses Between

2 To 4 Key Word Phrases Only. If you try to optimize a page for more than 4 phrases, it will usually work against you. For a website to rank well in the search results, the content on the page(s) needs to be clearly related to and relevant to the keyword phrases you’re targeting. The job of Google is to send traffic to the most relevant and resourceful page that brings the best user experience. If Google cannot determine the entire purpose of a website’s page and its relevance to the key word phrase searched, then with all things being equal, your site will tend to rank lower than most other sites in your space that are more relevant and resourceful to the searcher’s query. The key elements on a web page that support relevancy to a key word phrase are: a) The Title tag b) Meta description c) Heading tags d) Page contentWhen Google looks at your web page and sees natural (not keyword stuffed) contentwhich is very relevant to a keyword phrase or phrases, Google will equate that webpage to those phrases/categories or subject matter depicted within the content itself.

Tip #6: Review The Page In Google Cache As Text Only To See What Google Sees As The Content On The Page. If you enter in an exact URL (name of a site) into Google search, you should (assuming Google has indexed the page) see the URL ranking first in the search results. To the right of the URL will be a link to the Cached version of the page. This is the page as it looked when Google visited the page and added it to the Google index. Click on the “Cache” link. Then see the “Text-only version” link in the upper right portion of the screen. Click on “Text-only version” link. This will show the page with the graphics removed. Seeing the page in this way allows you to determine how much content is actually on the page and how much of the page is graphical. Here you are seeing the search engine’s view of your page and trying to understand if the pages content is complete enough or more keyword rich content should be added. Google needs content to index. So, if only a few lines of content exists on the page, more is certainly needed. You should see at least 200 to 300 words on each page.

Tip #7: What Good Is Traffic Without Conversions? – Make Sure Your Site Is Set Up With The Customer In Mind • Easy call to action• Final action/click within 3 clicks from the front page• Engage the searcher – give them engaging content/media etc…• Provide value – not just fluff content, but real value – find out what questions they’re asking and answer them.

Tip #8: Stay Fresh – Search Engines Continue To Award Freshness• Keep content unique• Keep content fresh – refresh content every 3-6 months.• Provide new pages with new information – helps your site become more of an authority within your industry and it

provides new paths of traffic through different long-tail phrases.

Tip #9: Focus On The Long-Tail Phrases To Begin – People Buy More Via Long-Tail Search Phrases, And They’re Easier To Dominate For In The Search Rankings.

a. Go after the long-tail with the short-tail as the base. By targeting the long-tail, the short-tail will also benefit.b. People searching via long-tail often know exactly what they’re looking for and because of that, they tend to convert

into customers at a higher percentage.

Tip #10: Use Longer Tailed And Geo Targeted Keywords In Your LinkBuilding For Better Conversions!

It’s important to understand your client base and what they’re searching for, but it’s even more important to target the keywords that will be more apt to CONVERT rather than those with just the highest search volumes. Many times the long tail keyword phrases (ex: “bankruptcy lawyer Phoenix Arizona”) will convert better than the root term (ex: “bankruptcy lawyer”) even though they have lower search volumes. Also, long tail keywords are generally much less competitive and therefore much easier (and less costly) to get ranked for!

Tip #11: Use Variety In Your Keyword Selection To Avoid An ArtificialBacklink Portfolio! (Google’s Recent Panda Update Says So!)

It’s always been important to target multiple keyword phrases and pages within your website, but after the Panda update, it’s become even more important. Google is sophisticated enough to detect a pattern in the keyword usage. So, if you want to rank for an important term, use it – but also use similar supporting terms in a variety of ways to ensure Google doesn’t flag your new links as potentially phony. Example: Want to rank for “Nike Shoes”? Build links using terms like: “Buy Nike Shoes”, “Buy Nike Shoes Online”, “Discount Nike Shoes”, “Mens Nike Shoes”, etc.

Tip #12: Your Links Should Come From Many Different Types Of WebsitesFor A More Natural Looking Portfolio!

Sure, there are high quality sites, strong in the key elements that make it an ideal site for hosting your link (think: higher Page Rank, Aged Domain, Strong in Relevancy, etc; but if every link pointing to your site uses the “perfect” criteria, it actually creates

suspicion within Google. You see, in the real world, not everyone that would naturally choose to link to your site would actually originate from high quality or even subject relevant

websites or blogs etc... Mix it up a bit and make sure there is significant variety in your backlink strategy. The

more diversified, the more natural the link building efforts appear.
