AliciaDid you get to see the doctor today?

No, I forgot to bring my Manitoba Health card.

Oh no, it is required if you want to get coverage.

I didn’t know that! I want to go back, but I can’t find my card. Can I use yours?

No Alicia, it is an offence to let another person use your card!

For one thing, your family status can affect your coverage.

In what way? You know that I am expecting a baby soon!

I didn’t know that either. I think I need to learn a thing or two about my Manitoba health card! What else do I need to know?

Well, just be sure to notify Manitoba health after the birth of your baby, so that they add him or her onto your card.

Johanna

Alicia That’s easy enough.

Alicia Bye!

Yep. Now a couple more things to remember; to be eligible for coverage you must reside in Manitoba for 6 months each calendar year.

That’s important to know. I have no plans to be away that long, but if I did go away I would hate to come back and not be covered!

Of course. Remember that your coverage includes X-rays required by your doctor, as well as accommodations at the hospital.

Hey, I found my card! I guess I’m off to the doctor’s office.

Thanks for all the information Johanna. It was very useful

I guess I need to remember that my card provides me with health insurance.

That’s right. Each province provides health coverage to it’s residents.

Johanna Great! I’m glad you found it!

No problem. See you!
