Overview of PCOS-

Formation of multiple tiny cysts (blood sacs) in the ovary is called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Page 3: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a Gynecological problem that can affect woman's:Menstrual cycleDifficulty to be pregnantHormonal imbalancesSkin and hair problems

Page 4: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

What are the causes of PCOS?The real cause of PCOS is

unknown. Factors-

May be genetic. Metabolic. Hormonal imbalance- the ovaries make

more androgens than normal. Androgens are male hormones that females also make.

Insulin may be linked to PCOS- Excess insulin appears to increase production of androgen.

How many women have PCOS?

Generally 1 in 10. 50% women in Kolkata at age

group of 15-30.(The Times of India, Kolkata, September-3, 2015, Pg-6)

Symptoms of PCOS may be categorized in the three groups- Cosmetic Symptoms Metabolic Symptoms Gynecological Symptoms

Page 8: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

The common cosmetic symptoms lead to-

Acne, oily skin, dandruff, skin tags- excess flaps of skin.

Excessive hair growth (Hirsutism) on the face and body. Often women get thicker and darker facial hair and more hair on the chest, belly, and back.

Page 9: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Patches of skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs that are thick and dark brown or black

Page 10: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Male-pattern baldness- thinning hair.

Page 11: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

The metabolic symptom leads to- Weight gain and trouble losing weight.

Page 12: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Gynecological symptom leads to-

Irregular or absent or profuse periods

Lowback or lower abdominal pain during Periods

Infertility: Difficulty in getting pregnant

Page 13: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Prognosis may be leads to-

MiscarriageType-II or Gestational DiabetesPregnancy-induced high blood

pressure (preeclampsia)Premature DeliveryOvarian or Uterine CancerCardiac Problems

It can be diagnosed by-

Pelvic USG Laparoscopy Specific Blood Test-

• Testosterone Level Test• Androgen Level Test• Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

Test• LH,17OHP, DHEAST etc.

Page 15: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Pelvic Ultrasonography (USG) is the first choice to diagnose the PCOS-

Page 16: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Laparoscopy may be used to diagnose the PCOS-

Page 17: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Treatment-

There is no cure for PCOS.Treatment goals are

based on only symptomatic relief.

Page 18: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

I propose-PEMF therapy with theLeucas Cephalotes herb as an effective treatment of PCOS.

(A novel innovative approach)

The use of PEMF to Treat the

Cyst and Tumors

PEMF Therapy (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field

Therapy)

It is an Equipment based-Physical Treatment

Based on the Research of NASA (Aerospace Centre, America)

Retrospective Study has made done in the Madras Institute of Magnetobiology (MIM), Chennai, India

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy Equipment

Pulse Rate: 1HzField Intensity (EMF): 40-50µT(A set of Helmholtz Coil uses to generate therapeutic flux)

How it works-

Page 25: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Effects of PEMFon living cells-

Accelerate Tissue Repairing Promotes Healthy Cell Growth Reduces Swelling and Inflammation Faster Healing Dissolve Fibrous Tissue Drain-up free Radicals, Toxins

and waste metabolic products from plasma

Page 26: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Bio-cellular Effects of PEMF treatment-

  Increases ATP Production, Endorphin

Release and Cellular Oxygen Intake Creates Healthy Cellular Environment Improves Intercellular Connectivity Dissolve Cyst and Tumour Formations

Page 27: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

Use of DRONAPUSPI (Leucas Cephalotes) Herb Flower

Useful to dissolve the formations of cyst and tumours

Page 28: Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS)

DRONAPUSPI (Leucas cephalotes- Spreng (Fam. Lamiaceae)Dronapushpi Leucas cephalotes Spreng. (Fam. Lamiaceae), an annual, erect, scaberulous, stout herb, about 0.6-0.9 m in high, found on the Himalayas at an altitude of 600-1800 m and on lands throughout the India.

Parameters toCheck significanceof the result-

Menstrual period will restore again regular and normal.

Compare USG impression with previous one to estimate the pathological changes on ovaries.

Evaluate associate symptoms those may be comparatively reduced or disappear.
