What not to do!

• Do not take aspirin or other conventional drugs to lower your fever.

• Fever is a vital defense of the body and it is an important way that the body fights infection. Homeopathic studies indicate a higher mortality after taking aspirin!

• Do not take any antibiotics.  • Antibiotics are not effective for the flu because it is the

result of a viral infection not a bacterial infection.

Homeopathy and Epidemics

Typhus Fever (spread by lice) in an 1813 epidemic which followed the

devastation of Napoleon's armyWhen the epidemic came through Leipzig as the

army pulled back from the east, Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, was able to treat 180 cases of Typhus-- losing but two. This,

at a time when the conventional treatments were having a mortality rate of over 30%.

• Dr. Quinn, in London, reported the mortality in the ten homeopathic hospitals in 1831-32 as 9%

• Dr. Roth, physician to the King of Bavaria, reported that under homeopathic care the mortality was 7%

• Admiral Mordoinow of the Imperial Russian Council reported 10% mortality under homeopathy

Cholera in Austria

• Dr. Wild, Allopathic editor of Dublin Quarterly Journal, reported in Austria, the Allopathic mortality was 66%

• The homeopathic mortality was 33%

• Because of this extraordinary result, the law interdicting the practice of Homeopathy in Austria was repealed!

In 1854 a Cholera Epidemic struck London.

• The House of Commons asked for a report about the various methods of treating the epidemic. When the report was issued, the homeopathic figures were not included. The House of Lords asked for an explanation, and it was admitted that if the homeopathic figures were to be included in the report, it would "skew the results".

• The suppressed report revealed that under allopathic care the mortality was 59.2% while under homeopathic care the mortality was only 9%.

Perhaps the most recent use of homeopathy in a major epidemic was during the Influenza

Pandemic of 1918.

• The Journal of the American Institute for Homeopathy, May, 1921, had a long article about the use of homeopathy in the flu epidemic.

• Dr. T A McCann, from Dayton, Ohio, reported that 24,000 cases of flu treated allopathically had a mortality rate of 28.2% while 26,000 cases of flu treated homeopathically had a mortality rate of 1.05%.

• This last figure was supported by Dean W.A. Pearson of Philadelphia (Hahnemann College) who collected 26,795 cases of flu treated with homeopathy with the above result.

• Francisco Eizayaga of Argentina studied the symptoms and felt it resembled those of the Homeopathic remedy Lathyrus sativa.

• The homeopathic doctors and pharmacies prescribed Lathyrus as a prophylactic, and thousands of doses were distributed.

• Nobody registered a case of contagion!

Resistance of Allopathic Doctors to accept Homeopathy

• One physician in a Pittsburgh hospital asked a nurse if she knew anything better than what he was doing, because he was losing many cases.

• "Yes, Doctor, stop aspirin and go down to a homeopathic pharmacy, and get homeopathic remedies".

• The Doctor replied: "But that is homeopathy." • "I know it, but the homeopathic doctors for whom I have nursed

have not lost a single case.“• W. F. Edmundson, MD, Pittsburgh.

Homeoprophylaxis (HP)

• Systematic use of homeopathically potentized substance to prevent the development of the characteristic symptoms of infectious disease.

• First utilized by Samuel Hahnemann in the 17th Century.

• Dr. Isaac Golden in his book Homeoprophylaxis - A Fifteen Year Clinical Study reports the effectiveness of HP at around 90%.

Homeoprophylaxis in the treatment of Flu

• Influenzinum nosode

• Oscillococcinum

• Genus Epidemicus

• Can be used prophylactically (before the prodrome has even begun).

• Once an actual illness has begun it is better to await definite symptoms and then select the proper homeopathic remedy

Influenzinum nosode

• The Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention of the United States defines a nosode as "homeopathic attenuations of: pathological organs or tissues; causative agents such as bacteria, fungi, ova, parasites, virus particles, and yeast; disease products; excretions or secretions.

• Made from tissue infected by the influenzinum virus.

Oscillococcinum • Anas barbariae hepatis et cordis extractum 200C

HPUS from extract of Muscovy Duck liver and heart• This homeopathic product is now used in more than

50 countries worldwide. In France, it has been in production for over 65 years.

• One study showed 63% of patients with "complete resolution" or "clear improvement" at 48 hours. The real good news is that the researchers evaluated it in a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.

Genus Epidemicus

• Characteristic symptoms are collected from patients who suffer from the flu

• Specific homeopathic remedies are matched with these symptoms

• These remedies become the specific Homeoprophylaxis for the flu

Selecting a Homeopathic remedy when flu symptoms develop

• Need to evaluate particular physical symptoms in each patient

• Need to look at modalities: What makes the symptoms/ patients better/ worse? Hot, cold, morning, night etc.

• Need to look at the mental emotional state of the patient. Anxious, depressed angry etc.

• Need to evaluate general symptoms. Hot, chilly, restless etc.

Genus Epidemicus for the Swine Flu

Aconite

• Mild flu like symptoms

• Runny nose and watery eyes

• No other peculiar symptom

• VERY ANXIOUS

Baptisia.

• If the flu patient is listless and prostrated

• Indifferent

• Offensive diarrhea

• Parts rested upon feel sore and bruised

Arsenicum album

• Patient is restless, anxious or fearful,

• thirsty but drinks small quantity and often

• , prostrated,

• diarrhea after eating or drinking

• nausea on seeing/smelling food,

• burning pains

Ipecac.

• If the nausea is pronounced

• Patient is thirstless

• Pain felt in bones

Eupatorium perf.

• Gastrointestinal symptoms are not marked

• Patient has deep pains as if bones are aching

Taking a Homeopathic Remedy

• Take several pellets and let dissolve in your mouth.

• Or place the pellets in water and then sip this solution

• Take three times per day -stop once there is marked improvement.

• If there is no improvement after 12 hours, most likely the remedy is incorrect

• Review the case and take another remedy
