+¿Qué es la ROP?

Es una vitreoretinopatía proliferativa que ocurre en prematuros. La cual consiste en una interrupción de la vasculogénesis, cuyos cambios básicos son la isquemia local, angiogénesis y la inducción de neovascularización.

En EUA causa ceguera en 1300 niños/año.

Incidencia en <1251gr 66-68%

CRYO-ROP

En México, en prematuros con promedio de 31.8sdg con peso <1290gr que fueron revisados a los 38 días de VEU se encontró:

ROP I 29%

ROP II 24%

ROP III 15%

ROP IV 0.6%

El manejo estricto de oxígeno con monitoreo constante y evitando fluctuaciones se asocia con reducción de incidencia de ROP.
