WHAT IS A STROKE?

A stroke (CVA- Cerebro Vascular Accident) can be caused by bleeding in the brain or by a blood clot that blocks blood flow to the brain.Post-Stroke Symptoms: Difficulty walking, speech impairment, and trouble with small everyday tasks (ie: picking up a fork).

EXERCISE IS KEY

● Exercise intensity is of ample importance when dealing with a patient whose suffered from a stroke.

● The process should be slow, deliberate, and progressive

● Increase intensity with improvement

EXAMPLES OF EXERCISES● Sit-to-stand transfers

● Climbing stairs for repetitions

● Standing leg raises

● Hip extensions

● Walking for distance
