A campaign created by Laderis, LLC which distributes The Art of Karen Y Buster to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness through the use of art. OCW is a call to action; a movement to bring continual awareness to breast cancer throughout the year. Through our partnerships with various organizations, companies and individuals, Karen Y Buster aims to utilize her artwork to change the way women relate to breast cancer and increase the number of women who are proactively dealing with the disease. In addition, Karen Y Buster hopes to raise $250, 000 from the sale of “The Me Within” to donate to non-profit organizations that support Breast Cancer Awareness.
By now many people are aware of the importance that early detection plays in the survival rate of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. While several organizations have joined together to rally around a movement to make October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we must all think of ways to bring awareness to this disease throughout the year. Breast Cancer Awareness month has proven to be valuable to the health and wellness of millions of women and we consider OCW to be “a movement within a movement”.
To place “The Me Within” image in a highly visible place in every church, salon, art gallery, consignment shop, boutique, wellness facility, office, teacher’s lounge, sorority house and women’s club around the country to: -Create a daily awareness and vigilance where we live, work, worship and play
- Reduce the fear by providing support and understanding of treatment options
Encourage women to have a healthy, fearless and proactive approach to screening and early detection. In addition, Karen Y Buster hopes to raise $250, 000 from the sale of “The Me Within” to donate to non-profit organizations that support Breast Cancer Awareness.
Karen Y Buster is a graphic artist whose unique style of using an "Xacto" knife to create simplistic, repetitive and rhythmic geometric shapes has intrigued art collectors for over 30 years. A graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans, LA, Karen could not help but be influenced by the city’s rich culture of music and art. The subject matter of her work is often inspired by her dreams and her constant observation of people as the live, work, play and worship.
Karen’s work has enhanced the lives of many people and numerous celebrities all over the world – Wynton Marsalis, Queen Latifah, Denzell Washington, Toni Braxton, Jada Pinket-Smith, Cheryl Lee-Ralph to name few. She was presented the “Arts and Cultural Award: by the National Coalition of 100 Black women, Inc. Karen has also been inducted into the African American Female Entrepreneurs Alliance and honored as a member of the Biltmore Who’s Who in 2007. Karen is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated since 1978. Laderis, LLC publishes and distributes Karen Y. Buster’s vast body of work including her original and limited edition work. The Studio and Gallery is located at 3000 Druid Park Drive, Suite 2A amongst the talent and inspiration of several other visual artists. People are welcome to stop in and meet the artist, who is often there, and see her new works as they are being created.

Commit to Wellness – Sign up with us to create your own commitment group of 4 to 6 women who will commit to being accountable for wellness of the members of the group. The members will make sure each group member has an annual physical / OB-GYN visit, mammogram and conducts regular partner assisted or self-breast examinations.
Volunteer – Volunteer to help spread the word about “October Can’t Wait” in your city. We are looking for people who can contact businesses and organizations in their cities as well as give of a small amount of their time to participate in functions on our behalf.
