How is the procedure performed? The treatment is performed with cold laser rays to

Our Protocol

Patient Selection - Above 18 year. Contact Lens wearers to discontinue usage at least 7 days before surgery.

Pre-procedure workup – To thoroughly assess the cornea in terms of its health and thickness before deciding options.

Counselling – To help the patient understand the procedure and be well-informed. The patient is given realistic expectations.

Quality of Procedure – Laser is maintained under strict company-specified environment norms. The technology & the procedure are both US FDA approved.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure starts with the assessment of the eyes and a few tests are done by the clinic. After this, depending upon the schedule (same day or later), the actual laser procedure takes about 10-15 minutes.


How soon will my vision recover?

Generally it takes about 24 hours for the vision to recover. However, in few patients it takes some additional days.


Is the procedure painful, requires bandage or hospitalisation?

The treatment involves flap-making of the cornea and then the reshaping with the laser. The entire procedure is done under topical anesthesia and therefore, is absolutely painless. There is no patching of the eye and the patient is sent back home in an hour’s time.


How soon can I resume my normal life?

One needs to take a few precautions like wearing dark glasses while moving out of the house, careful with water not entering the eyes, not swimming or playing an contact sport for couple of days. Normal lifestyle can be resumed after 24 hours following the procedure.


Will I get my power removed completely and is this permanent?

Generally the decision on the eligibility and extent of correction of the power is taken after careful evaluation and some diagnostic testings. Once the treatment is delivered the outcome is permanent. However, very seldom some patient’s might require a re-touch.


How safe is this?

This procedure has been available worldwide for the last 10 years and there are millions who have benefited from it. In India alone, there are about 75,000 procedures done every year. The evaluation and selection criterion is important and followed under very strict USFDA & Ministry of Health guidelines.


Will my eyes look normal after the procedure?

Your eyes would look absolutely normal and the way they are without glasses before the procedure. However, there might be some redness for the initial few days but will get cleared in a short time.


Can I apply make-up?

You will be advised to avoid using any kind of eye make-up for a week. A light face make-up however can be used with care.


How many procedures have you done yourself?

I’ve undergone training and also certain certification courses. Also, it is important to know that the approach to the procedure should be right in terms of patient selection, which is something we adhere to at our centre. Technology also plays an important role and VISX STAR 4 has been giving excellent results.


For how long will I have to be on medication?

There is not much of medication required. Generally some antibiotic & lubricating drops are prescribed for a limited period for healing/comfort.


Can I wear Contact Lenses?

Yes, you may use cosmetic contact lenses after a few weeks following the procedure. However, we need to assess the right time to start.
