HOW DOES READING AFFECTS THE BRAIN

Reading affects the brain in such way that we experience all the events that the character from the book experienced in the story.

Using fMRI researches could identify the parts thar were in activity during the reading. Reading can affect the brain for days after you finish the book.

So what parts of the brain are used during the reading?

We use the temporal lobe, located beneath the lateral fissure on both cerebral cortex, is responsible for phonological awareness and decoding sounds.

The frontal lobe, that is located at the front of each cerebral hemisphere and positioned anterior to (in front of) the parietal lobe and superior and anterior to the temporal lobes, handles speech production, reading fluency, gramatical usage, and comprehension, making it possible to understand simple and complex grammar in our native language.

And we use also the angular and the supramarginal gyrus, the angular gyrus is a region of the brain in the parietal lobe, that lies near the superior edge of the temporal lobe, and immediately posterior to the supramarginal gyrus and the supramarginal gyrus is located just dorsal to the angular gyrus allowing these two structures to form a multimodal complex that receives somatosensory, visual, and auditory inputs from the brain, these parts serve as a "reading integrator" a conductor of sorts, linking the different parts of the brain together to execute the action of reading.

This course allowed me to identify all the parts of the brain, the divisions, the nerves, the distribution of blood, every part of the brain, in a way I could not before. No doubt I learned a lot during and even after the end during the development of the final project. Thank you!
