CAREGIVERS

PRIORITIZE YOUR OWN

HEALTH

Generally, caregivers tend to be big-

hearted and willing to devote

themselves towards the well being of

the person they are taking care of. In the

process, the caregiver's  health takes

the backseat and often results in some

greater risk such as cancer, diabetes.

It is important to note that as a

caregiver you can only take care of

others if you are fit and fine otherwise it

will not be possible for you.

GET MORE SLEEP

Sleep is an important part of your

health. Getting an adequate amount

of sleep is necessary to stay healthy. It

is tough for caregivers to get 7-8 hours

of sleep but some way or the other

you have to try and add a little bit of

extra time for sleeping. Try to set your

bedtime 15 minutes earlier than

usual.  This way you will be able to

add 15 more minutes to your sleep

time. Gradually increase the time this

way and your health will start

improving.

GET 'ME' TIME

If you are a caregiver then having

time for yourself is rare. When you

are not taking care of any senior

person, you are taking up other

responsibilities. In the process, you

don't get the all-important time for

yourself. It is important for you to

take some time out from your busy

schedule as it is essential for your

health and well being.

SPEND SOME QUALITY TIME

Like many caregivers, you are busy

all the time taking care of your loved

ones. You are taking care of all the

daily needs of your aging parents but

you are not really spending quality

time with them. While taking care of

your loved one, make sure to have a

lot of fond memories together.  Plan

a  fun activity once a week so that

you can connect with your loved

ones.

PLAN FOR THE FUTURE

It is a tough thing to accept but

there will be a day when you will

no longer be able to provide care

for your loved ones. That can

happen due to your physical

ability or the condition of your

loved one is out of your control.

Planning ahead will be helpful for

you as it will save a lot of time and

stress.
