Introduction For over 20 years the Young Women’s Christian

Association (YWCA) has hosted the annual Women of Excellence Awards, honoring women in the community who have demonstrated empowering leadership qualities. Some local chapters of the YWCA present the awards in categories such as workplace, volunteerism, emerging leader, and employer of excellence, and the organization also offers regular scholarships for young women deemed “future leaders.” The Topeka, Kansas, YWCA utilizes the luncheon and award ceremonies as an opportunity for fundraising, and invites a preeminent and inspiring individual to be the keynote speaker.
