*World Hunger and Poverty: A Way to the End
*Why?
* In 2010, 22 percent of the world was living on $1.25/day* That’s approx. 1/3 of the cost of a Tall Iced Coffee at Starbucks
* 870 million people are undernourished* That’s one in eight people going hungry
* 700 million fewer people lived in extreme poverty conditions in 2010 than in 1990* But 1.2 billion people are still living in those same conditions
* These are people living in conditions you could never imagine.* People who have children* People who go to work* People who deserve and have the right to have more.
*How?
*Locally, we can spread the word by:*Volunteering*Donating*Mission Trips*Talking
*One canned good is all it takes to impact someone’s life here in the community.*A few dollars per month can provide
governments trying to help their people, with the right tools to do so
*Where?
*The biggest contribution can be made to one of the many partners of the UN Development Programme*Zero Hunger Challenge*Scaling Up Nutrition Movement
*These programs have specific goals to end world hunger and poverty*Goals that have already been met, goals
that can continue to find an end.
*Social Media Impact
*A simple #EndWorldHunger can spread the word*A viral video on Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram can play a huge role*Ending hunger and poverty takes more than just finding ways*Social media can be used to spread the word for the people who don’t know when their next meal is going to be.
