Our model mWater follows an open source business model. Anyone can use the platform for free, without a relationship with mWater. Large organizations use their software budgets as investments in technology the world needs. Investor-level organizations pay for tailored new features, customized implementations, dashboards, training, and support. In turn, we are able to offer all mWater features to the public for free, encouraging more people to join the global effort to map sources and monitor water quality. Our partners Our current and past partners include USAID, The World Bank, Water.org, WaterAid, Whole World Water, MWA, Care, charity: water, Riverkeeper, UN HABITAT and The Water Trust. In addition to these formal partners, more than 3000 independent mWater users are mapping water sources around the world, representing local governments, small organizations, and water utilities. To date, mWater?s global database has over 350,000 sites and visits mapped in 57 countries. Developments mWater is developing a global water quality database where organizations can share anonymized data in the form of indicators. This tool will help advance collaboration between governments and organizations; track progress on regional goals; and make possible data mining for new research and innovations in water and sanitation. mWater is currently developing Broadstreet, a free mobile app for mapping diarrheal cases and needs in communities affected by WASH diseases, including Ebola.
