WHAT CAN IT DO FOR ME?

What is IAWP?Founded in 1913, IAWP is a professional, worldwide, non-profit association exclusively dedicated to workforce professionals who work in public and private workforce development programs. IAWP has a rich tradition and history of contributions to workforce excellence. The California Chapter was founded in February 13, 1964.

Why Should I Join IAWP?IAWP offers continuing Education, Scholarships & Grants to help with professional DevelopmentThere are great Communication and Networking Opportunities, and best of all there is an Award Program to recognize your efforts and accomplishments.

You Can Get Awards

Awards in the form of Merits, Citations, Services to Veterans, Retirees, Employees Performance, and Fostering Partnerships are given to deserving individuals.

The WPDP Workforce Professional Development Program CertificateA series of self study guides and examinations designed to measure and recognize an individuals knowledge of workforce development programs

CERTIFIED WORKFORCE SPECIALIST (CWS)The CWS designation shows current and potential employers of your initiative in developing, maintaining, and improving your career skills within the workforce field.

Hours of professional development are available through IAWP training (workshops and educational conferences) each year to better yourself and make you a more valuable employee.

Educational SessionsHere are some of the Educational Sessions offered by each Chapter:Each local Chapter offers educational sessions like this one you have now, The Benefits of IAWP Membership.

The District Chapter also schedules educational programs throughout the year. An example is the training on April 9th on Spend a Day Investing in Yourself, (Preparing for Promotional Opportunity).

There is an Educational State Conference and Convention scheduled annually.

Scholarships and GrantsAt the State and International levels, there are grantsavailable to provide financial assistance to MEMBERS who wish to increase their skills, knowledge, and abilities in the field of workforce development.

The Bybee GrantKarl E. Bybee Education Grant ProgramThe California Chapter offers the Karl E. Bybee Grant to its membership. The Karl E. Bybee Education Foundation Fund exists to provide financial assistance to IAWP individual members OR Local Chapters for studies on workforce development. Grant requests can be approved for up to $500 or two grants per member per year, whichever is less and awarded after successful completion of the education program.

ScholarshipTheLogan S. Chambers Scholarshipis awarded for pursuit of job related study at accredited schools. The program, available only to members through International, typically provides $14,000 for 150 grants each year. Again this reimbursement is granted after successful accomplishment of the educational program.

Communication & Networking Opportunities

Cal-Liope Cal-Liope is the official newspaper of the California IAWP Chapter. It is published bi-monthly in February, April, June, August, October and December by the California Chapter of the International Association of Workforce Professionals.

Each member is encouraged to write articles on workforce services topics.
