Early history.• The name of the studio, Warner, was first founded by the four

Warner Brothers• (Harry, Albert, Sam, Jack)• By the end of WW1 (1918), The brothers were finally

producing films and opened The Warner Bros. studio in Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

• Their first movie was called My four years in Germany (based on a book).

Facts that made Warner Bros.• The Brothers struggled to secure their place in Hollywood,

until their major break through with ‘Rin Tin Tin’ (The top star being a dog).

• Warner Bros. isn't a company. It’s a studio. Its owned by a conglomerate called Time Warner. They are the top earning company in Hollywood at the moment.

• Warner Bros. owns many companies which you may have heard of (New Line Cinema, HBO Films, Turner Entertainment)

Its all about the money.• Warner Bros. aren't in the Film business for the art of film,

its all about the money.• They are the top earning Hollywood studio in the world,

earning 18% of all money.• Its made hundreds of films which have made massive Box

Office success. • Popular examples: Harry Potter Franchise, The Matrix

Trilogy, The New Batman Franchise and The Hangover Films.• They don’t own any independent companies that produce

art-house films

Ideas?• Most studios in this age have completely ran out of

original ideas• Studios Reboot and Remake just about anything that

has already been made. Warner Bros. is a big example of this process, which makes millions.

• Take Batman for example. There have been a total 7 films in its history, 8 when ‘The Dark Knight Rises is released. Once that trilogy is complete, Warner Bros. are Rebooting the entire franchise once again.

• (Other Examples: Blade Runner (already planned), Superman (already being made))

What's down to their success?• The main reason that Warner Bros. earn so much of the

money in the film industry boils down to how many films they produce.

• Since created, the studio has made a total of over 2000 films.• A big title such as ‘The Dark Knight’, which was the third

biggest grossing film of all time (Now tenth). They are expected even more money next year with ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, which is looking to take a place in the top ten biggest grossing films of all time.

• The Dark Knight is Warner Bros. biggest selling film in their history. 2nd Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, 3rd Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, 4th Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 5th is Inception (according to start of 2011)
