Video camera techniques

• Low angle – filmed from below.• High angle – filmed from above.• Panning – Camera moves left or right.• Tilt – Vertical movement of the camera, up or down.• Tracking shot – Camera attached to a moving object in order

to trail the action. • Short take – Shot lasts short time.• Long take – Shot lasts a long time.• Framing – People, location, props ect are positioned within a

frame. • Zoom – Camera moves in our out.

Editing techniques

• Dissolve – Fades out of one shot while fading up another shot on top of it.

• Fade – A shot fades into a blank screen and the next shot fades in.

• Quick cuts – Shot moves quickly from one shot to another.• Fast motion – The shot is faster than originally filmed,

sped up.• Slow motion – The shot is slower than originally filmed,

sped down. • Wipe – A shot is wiped off the screen and replace by

another.
