Venture Lab – The Crash Course on Creativity Assignment 2 ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION? General impressions: When I read the introduction paragraph and watched the lecture about Paying attention, it actually attracted me very much. I know that I haven’t been paying attention to minor things at all, and yes, I found that it could be very important, so I said to myself: you have to try this; you have to try to change your behavior in order to spot things, in order to see what will happen. My first conclusion is that Paying attention behavior needs practice, if you want to change your habits. During this assignment, I was investing a lot of effort to spot things, I was doing like a scanner in all the stores I visited. This means that I will try to practice with these techniques even after the assignment, since it has itched my inquiries about what in the world I have been missing all the time. Third and final conclusion: in the first moment, I was afraid of the amount of new information my brain had to accept, and where all those information should be put? Isn’t it too much, isn’t it a large burden for my memory, for my knowledge and for my thoughts? Then, after spending some time spotting the minorities and details in all the stores, I couth that it is not so difficult at all! Why? Because, your actual task is, after spotting and noticing things, to reject all the unnecessary and common pictures, events and behaviors, and to affirm the unusual differences and specifics which you didn’t expect. And after all, to use that information. Paying attention to minor things opens very interesting space! It demands practice! Reject the common, accept intriguing!

Assignment 2

ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?

General impressions:

When I read the introduction paragraph and watched the lecture about Paying attention, it actually attracted me very much. I know that I haven’t been paying attention to minor things

at all, and yes, I found that it could be very important, so I said to myself: you have to try this; you have to try to change your behavior in order to spot things, in order to see what will happen.

My first conclusion is that Paying attention behavior needs practice, if you want to change your habits. During this

assignment, I was investing a lot of effort to spot things, I was doing like a scanner in all the stores I visited. This means that I will try to practice with these techniques even after the assignment, since it has itched my inquiries about what in the world I have been missing all the time.

Third and final conclusion: in the first moment, I was afraid of the amount of new information my brain had to accept, and where all those information should be put? Isn’t it too

much, isn’t it a large burden for my memory, for my knowledge and for my thoughts? Then, after spending some time spotting the minorities and details in all the stores, I couth that it is not so difficult at all! Why? Because, your actual task is, after spotting and noticing things, to reject all the unnecessary and common pictures, events and behaviors, and to affirm the unusual differences and specifics which you didn’t expect. And after all, to use that information.

The task:

The task is essentially not so difficult, but in my place, it is a bit wierdy if you are obviously taking pictures all around. So I cannot support my observations with too much photos taken, but I have found some interesting details in the shopping mall.

Common things for boutiques:

 Colorful, very colorful

Page 3: Venture lab are you paying attention

Floor is made of ceramic plates in different sizes and shapes, but I saw nothing interesting in it.

Usually the same music, centraly played

Some sport boutiques use different air fresheners

Female to male ratio

is about 4/1 average in sport and garment stores

is about 1/4 in electronic merchandise stores

(created picture)

Security do not stand in every boutique, but in every third or fourth and it usually does not have any kind of contact with personel

The exhibition of merchandise do not have any rule, and if it had, I want be impressed by anything.

I noticed three types of shop windows:

1. completely closed by paravans, end equiped with most recognisable merchandise

2. half-full with two or thre shelves with staff, with the insight of the store fully visible above them

3. stores without shop windows – the whole frontal surface is acctually an entrance to the store

(1) (2) (3)

Some boutiques have LCD screen at the entrance, but they are drowned in the rich and colorful ambient, so they are spotless, not to say futile.

The ceiling!!

The ceiling in meny boutiques does not have cover plates; the „sky“ with all the pipes and cables is visible, it is above the people. Only lights and air conditioners hang from the ceiling, and there is no amstrong cover in many of stores.

Some other stores have specially designed ceiling to match their copmany logos, like Reebok and Addidas.

And, what I haven’t noticed ever before...

...Addidas has a wristwatch collection! I have never seen anything from Addidas which doesn’t include sneackers, tracksuits and such things.
