Suite of idents

When channels make idents they usually have a suit of idents rather then loads of one offs. A suite of idents is made up of idents that all have similar theme or idea and they all link together. Having a suite of idents rather than just a few makes it more interesting to the audience and I thinks comes across as more creative. Having a link in idents creates and keeps brand identity.

This ident in particular appeals to a certain audience, it would most appeal to strictly come dancing fans as it’s showing the spinning dancing globe, it could also appeal to fans of entertainment TV in general. This ident will only be shown before strictly come dancing is

about to start or when being advertised in the week, or also short snippets of the ident may have been shown when in was it the first promoting stage. in the promotion stages it will probably be shown in the evening as that is most popular time for when people watch TV. It will be shown around the September time as this is when strictly come dancing starts, it will also be shown through out the show being broadcasted to keep giving the show awareness. I think this ident does convey a massage which is that bbc1 shows evening entertainment programmers and is more of a laid-back entrainment channel rather than serious.

This ident would mostly appeal to football fans as it directly shown people kicking footballs in circle format, and it could also appeal to sports fans in general. I think this ident is mostly intended to be shown before football or football shows e.g. match of the day, as it is sporty, it could also be used as a background when being advertised before hand. I think this can be used all through out the year at any sporting event its not just for one time of year. I would say that this ident keeps bbc1 looking diverse as its showing they have different genres of programmes on bbc1, also they might be trying to show that show coverage of football events.

I wouldn’t say that this ident appeals to a certain type of audience, as it is more a general ident. I think this ident could be used at any time of the day, as it has no specific target but I recon it is more used in daytime TV, as it is such a basic ident. I could see this ident being used before a show like the ‘one show’. I think this ident is intended to be used any time of year but possibly not around the times of a big event e.g. Christmas as it has not theme to it. I don’t think this ident conveys the biggest messege about bbc1 but they could be trying to that bbc 1 is an all rounder TV channel.

These three idents all have similarities. All three of them have the circle theme running through them, each ident has a circle formed from what is happening in the ident. Although each ident may having a different scenario going on e.g. football, strictly come dancing they as still have the link of the circle shape, they all use the same them but in a different way.
