Target Audience

Our target audience are people aged between 15-25 years old.

We know this due to the research conducted, we asked 40 people from different age groups on their opinions of the song and their preferences of the content we are going to put in our video.

Page 7: Rihanna Pitch

From our research we have found out that our target audience wants the music video to be accessible on Kiss TV as it proved most demanded, and to upload the video on YouTube.

Audience's Demands

Our music video meets the audience's demands as we are going to use our results to fulfill their requests. For instance we would focus on the lyrics of the song and have a strong link between the words and the visuals as it is the most important for our target audience.

Page 9: Rihanna Pitch

Also for the costumes the two most popular fashion and casual is what the singer is going to mainly wear.

For the location we would mainly record in the Bull Ring and in a recording studio.

Genre

• In pop music videos there is normally brightly Coloured clothes, make up and sets which is what we will try to achieve in our music video. Pop music videos also represent a sense of fun energy and has a lot going on in the music video, making it very entertaining, which is what we will try to incorporate in our video as is shown in the treatment

For example Cheryl Cole 'Under the Sun'

Page 11: Rihanna Pitch

• Pop music video are normally filmed on sunny beaches, holidays and boats- locations that are associated with a good and rich lifestyle. However this would be difficult to achieve with our budget and situation so we would have to compromise and film in town centers, coffee shops etc...

For example Niki Minaj 'Starships'

Page 12: Rihanna Pitch

• When we edit we would make sure we have fast cuts to keep video upbeat and exciting, as well as to show sudden scene change.

For example The Wanted 'Glad You Came'

Page 13: Rihanna Pitch

The common theme in narrative amongst pop music videos are the love story line.

Narrative

For example Katy Perry 'Thinking of You'

Page 14: Rihanna Pitch

Dance

• A choreographed dance would be an important aspect to include in our music video. Normally this would occur in the chorus of the video and it is the part which most of the audience remembers and is what markets the artist.

One Direction 'Best Song Ever'

Psy 'Gangham Style'

Page 15: Rihanna Pitch

Performance

Demi Lovato 'Heart Attack'

John Newman 'Love me Again'

This would be important to include in our video as it enables the audience to feel part of a live show. So we would use a stage- possibly booking the Grand Theatre and recording there.

Specific shot ideas• Pink ink falling into water edited in slow motion• High angle close up of the artists face in the rain- creates a dramatic effect.• High angle wide shot of the traffic at night, can see the lights of the cars• 3D effects to connotes disorientated artists/ drug • Bonfire/firework- jump cuts of the different coloured fireworks• Shadows, flickering lights jump cuts• Layering shots on top of each other- not opaque, creates a ghostly lonely

feel suits the mood of the artist later in the video• Panning shot to each location in circular motion to give the moving

panorama effect• Low angle of artist jumping in slow motion• Dolly (or chair with wheels) move towards the artist when editing rewind the

clip, creates a disorientated effect• Camera records in three different angles, edit so the clip flows in slow

motion• Low angle shot of her picking e.g. a phone out of her drawer• Low angle shot of the sky spinning round

In class we then pitched these ideas to the rest of the class and our teachers.

We were then given feedback on how to improve…

Page 18: Rihanna Pitch
Page 19: Rihanna Pitch

Here’s how we solved these problems…

Page 20: Rihanna Pitch

• The original track does not have the wind noise at the beginning, it is just the music video.• We plan to have a narrative, boy meets girl. We also plan to have colour effects.• The dancers do dance as a course in school. We are going to film in the dance studio as

if they are rehearsing with Rihanna for a performance. • We are not having our lead falling down at the beginning.• We are not filming a normal day, we are having a narrative and her rehearsing for a

concert and going on a date.• Our Rihanna is the lead singer, dancer and the main character of our video.• Our music video fits in with the genre because it is going to be very clean cut, and we are

going to film in entertaining locations like the arcade and dance studio. • We have not contacted the grand because we are not going to film there anymore. • We are not having a drug theme because this does not fit in with the pop genre and the

clean cut video we are going for.

Page 21: Rihanna Pitch

Basically…

We are going to have a clean cut pop video, with a narrative of a girl lusting for a boy (who get together in the end). But she goes through all these different techniques in order to get his attention!

We are going to film in a dance studio, an arcade and in west park. All of these are really fun locations.

‘Rhianna’ will have lots of costume changes to show off our brand image.
