Front cover

-I like the style of Rock Sound were the band name is in front of an image of the band.

-The title of the magazine can be slightly covered by the main image as everyone knows the magazine but it gives a messy look. The look is suited to a magazine aimed at rock music.

-A little bit of extra to further intrigue the reader.

-The idea of getting posters as well as the magazine will appeal to readers as they will feel they are getting something free. They make the posters clear on the front cover.

-Price clear on front.

-The title clearly stands out as they use contrasting colours.

-Attractive Front cover images.

-Theme carried out.

-Quotes in Bold. Stands out.

-Blood and gore could be associated with the type of music they play.

-colour of text used stands out from background colour and is easy to read.

-All the people that the article is about are present in the photos

-Text changes colour to emphasize things.

-List of bands and page numbers so readers can find what they want easier.

-Split into different sections so once again the reader can select what they want quicker.

- Larger image to give the reader an immediate idea of what the main stories are about.

Photos

-Lead singer is the centre of the photo

-Doesn’t look like a planned photo. Adds an effect that the band members don’t care.

-Not taken in a posh studio, rather an old building. Suggests what the attitude of the band is.

-Simple. Not very colourful or much going on. All the attention is on the artist.

-Edited to the effect the band want to be seen as. Each member looks ‘perfect’ all flaws removed.

87% of Kerrang! Readers buy every issue this means that they have people they can rely on to purchase their magazines and can estimate quite accurately how many copies of the magazine are going to be bough.

Kerrang! facts

The mean age for the readers of Kerrang! is 22. This means that the stuff they put in their magazine will be targeted for a younger audience.

The creators of Kerrang! Have the copy of the magazine ready a week before it is due to go on sale.

The advertising rates for Kerrang! Are quite high with it costing £3,025 for a full page FH display.

The target market is men 17- 30. This means that the contents will be more suited to older males but of course will still include things for others.

(73% male 27% female).

NME is a weekly magazine so the producers / makers will have tight deadlines to meet in order to get a perfect copy every week.

80% of NME readers feel that music is a big part of their lives. This shows that the majority of the readers will find the contents of NME relevant to them.

93% of NME readers own a computer and 96% have access to the internet so there is a high number of people accessing their website.
