How they animate

Pixar use there own software that allows them to animate 3D models, then using powerful computers they can render these models, this is computer simulating the model this is how they make each frame. This process is very taxing on computers so they use a set of commuters known as a ‘Render farm’ to be dedicated to rending frames.

They animate by playing all of the 100,000s of frames, showing a small amount of movement in each to build up then animation. This is standard animation, but as this is Pixar the amount of work that will go in to story boarding, and hand drawn artwork will be will be unmatchable to any other studio.
