You Give Me Somethi ng – James Morriso n I chose to look at the first 30 seconds of this music video. I chose it because it is of a a similar genre as the song I intend to use. The first shot is an establishing shot and it sets the scene for the entire music video by telling the audience it’s New York City. The music video revolves mostly around daily life in the city, showing many people just going about their days. The performer walks around the city, then sets down his guitar case and begins his song, as if he is busking. The majority of shots of non- performance last around 1.5 seconds, and when the performer is performing around 3-4 seconds. 1 3 2 8 7 6 5 4 9 10 11 1 2 13 14 15 16 I have numbered each of the shots to label the order.

Lucky – Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat

I chose to look at the first 30 seconds of this music video. I chose it because it is also of a similar genre as the song I intend to use.

The first shot is an establishing shot of a European-looking square.

The music video is set in 2 very different places. One (where Jason Mraz is) looks like an old, historic, European square. Whereas the other (where Colbie Caillat is) looks like a remote island, it does not even look like they’re on the same Continent.

The majority of shots of non-performance last around 2 seconds, and when the performer is performing around 4 seconds.I have numbered each of the shots to label the order.

The video also includes titles, the performer’s names and the song name.

Who Says – John MayerI chose to look at the first 30 seconds of this music video. I chose it because it is also of a similar genre as the song I intend to use.

The music video is set in 2 different times of the night. The narrative shows the night that the performer is coming home from and when he is performing, the performer is at home after the night. There are lots of extras in these party scenes.

The majority of shots of non-performance last around 1 seconds, and when the performer is performing around 2 seconds.I have numbered each of the shots to label the order.

The first shot is an establishing shot of a city which we are told in the song is New York City, the time is told in this shot.

Effects such as still shots to connote photos are used.
