CD covers From when the boys released their first album they kept the colours which they started out using. This kept consistency for the boys fans and were able to relate certain colour to their favourite band member of JLS. Most of the shots of the boys are mid shots rather than long shots. I think this is because they like to focus mostly on the aesthetics of the boys. They have a very good image of young, good looking boys which girls would admire and boys would aspire to be like. They have low lighting on most of their album covers and the back grounds of their pictures. This is due to emphasising the forefront of the pictures of the boys. This makes them stand out and more eye catching to the fans.

Image The boys started their branding by having a specific and individual colour to make them recognisable and more individual rather than just a boy band.

They brought out affordable JLS merchandise starting from £30. they were paped brandishing their own merchandise. This is something that has been kept consistent throughout their promotion.

Newspaper articles By appearing magazines and websites such as “ACESHOWBIZ” shows that the boys were building up their popularity in the world of media as this website is accessible all over the world. By being mentioned with artists such as Tinie Tempah and Eminem proves how well the boys had done by initiating themselves within the world of pop.

In the same token, by the Telegraph writing about the boys announcing their split shows the bands diversity and their ability to branch out to all kinds of fans. Ranging from the younger generation in Showbiz and the more sophisticated audience of The Telegraph.

Music videosBeat Again was their first single they released and used a very much performance based format where the video showcased their ability to put on a performance to help encourage them to look more appealing. They stayed with the same idea of having the same colours for each artist in the band. When Austin was singing the lights in the background changed to blue.

The lighting for One Shot started of as low key to help run alongside the album cover of being low key. This helps continuity for the viewers. The long shot of the boy being in the spotlight emphasises how they as a band are the spotlight in the charts at the moment in time.

The boys have a very mainstream style with a peculiar twist. For example braces and a hat. In Everybody In Love music video the boys image was very important as they had no outfit changed throughout.

How might this help me • I believe that having a recognisable image and a consistent logo has

helped JLS become established artists. Their fans were able top keep up with them and their trends, even though their style changed with the fashion, fans were able to keep up and follow the band easily. The band have kept the same logo throughout their time of being together, with the same font, colour and layout. Made them easy to notice when put on platform such as their award they won in 2010 at the MOBO’s.

As their genre of music is pop they made sure that their songs and video’s fit well for their target audience. Promoting the band was effortless as they knew how to please their target audience. They were able to attract to them by making them have an approachable, friendly and welcoming style. Girls were able to think they could really know the members of the band which is what the fans want.
