This wide shot of the artists at the beginning of the video shows the use of voyeurism as the artist is shown both on screen and off. Intertextual references from this clip we see the artist on pink clouds which is also seen in another Katy Perry video making it associated with all her videos. Also her pink wig is iconic in 'California girls’.

This mid shot also uses voyeurism as she looks at herself in the mirror. There are also lots of close ups of the main artist. Pink is a main colour used in this part to aim at its target audience (girls) and also because it’s popular.

A close up of the artist is used so we can clearly see her facial expressions. In this shot we can see the lighting is quiet dark which contrasts to the upbeat pop music in the video.The relationship between the lyrics and visuals in this part of the clip could be amplified when she says ‘I'm wide awake’

This tracking shot of the artist holding a lantern is similar to the fairy tale snow white, this could have been used to show Katy Perry as one of the evil characters in the story. Again the video looks quiet gloomy which contradicts the stereotypical themes of pop music videos.

Again this close up is similar to the snow white fairy tale where the wicked witch pulls the apple from the tree, this could show she is representing that character by following the same characteristics or trying to subvert through the visuals.

This low angle shot allows us to see what is in the background and also the characters actions. The music and visuals have no link and therefore contradict each other.

This wide shot has no link with the lyrics but has many Intertextual references to Katy Perry's videos, such as the bright colours and flowers. This part of the clip doesn’t match with the pace of the video but is the opposite to the beginning of the clip where as she now represents snow white in a fairy tale world.

This over the shoulder shot allows us to see a clear understanding of the other characters face. The colours in this part represent a pop music video as there are bright. Her coloured hair is also shown in the video ‘Firework’.

The last shot shown is a low angle shot of Katy Perry performing live, this could link to the pop music genre and also to the song which is played. Throughout the video references to 6 other videos are made making this video seem like an ending.
