Get to know Me!

Lukasz Stapor, engineercivil engineering

Check my experience!

It Was a great adventure to get my education. I am an engineer,

graduate of Kielce University of Technology (civil engineering)

with Master`s Degree. My internship was connected with

maintenance and constructing of motorways. During my studies

I have also had a part time job in a music club with bowling.

Now I am finishing my universityeducation and looking for careeropportunities connected with my skills.

Let my show You what I have beendoing untill now!

The university provided essentialqualifications required in my oncomingcareer.

I am proud of my lecturers, who arecooperating with the industry. Thanks tothat they provided me with up-to-dateknowledge and useful skills.

My education

Land surveying course

Microsoft Word and Excel are not enough…

Except for engineering issues, I have performedprojects using tools as:

-AutoCad

-MS Project

-Norma PRO

- others

My internship. Why the government agency?

From the beginning of my university journeyI wanted to work not only with residential buidings issues, but also in the area of maintenance and construction ofmotorways.

The organisation that I have chosen was the GeneralDirectorate of National Roads and Motorways (division inLower Silesia).

The Directorate has accepted my

application and I was given a chance to

work closely to my interests.

First departament, I worked at, was the

Team of Road Traffic Management at A4 and

A8 Motorways. A8 is a ring-road of Wroclaw

and A4 is one of the most commonly used

roads in Poland.

My key responsibilities were: supervising the situation

on the roads, collecting information about dangers and

managing the traffic by Variable Message Signs.

I also participated in visitations at the whole lenght of

the road that was being serviced.

After the work in the divisionof motorway maintenance, therehas come a time for a really greatchallenge. I decided to work foranother departament – a Laboratoryof road materials.

That was a job strictlyconnected with building materials, technology and objects constructing.

During my internship, the department was supposedto supervise the constructing process of S8 expressway(Wroclaw – Lodz).

That was a great opportunity to get to know specifics ofwork in construction site and the relations between participants.I could also use and check the knowledge that I gained at theUniversity.

My everyday tasks were in-situ testing:

• controlling the gravel`s compaction with VSS method

• Light Weight Deflectometer tests

• Falling Weight Deflectometer tests

• collecting speciments of building materials e.g. concrete

• laser profilograph

VSS method. Testing the gravel compaction.

I was also executing other tests:

• durability of concrete and substructures material

• checking the granulation and asphalt content in mix

• water penetration and cold resistance of concrete

• durability of small concrete elements

The internship at GeneralDirectorate of National Roads andMotorways was a great challenge.Working for sometimes about 12 hours aday is not an easy task, but it is the bestway to learn as much as possible.

Directorate`s employees providedme with a large klonwledge. Everydaymeetings with contractors gave me abetter view for the specifics of their work.

Apart from lectures, I try to broaden my knowledge byvisiting my University Library and reading handbooks andmagazines related to roads indystry.

Every year I attend the big exhibition in Kielce Trade Fairs. The event makes companies from all over the world come to Kielceand present the areas of their operations and the offer.

Something more than lessons

During my studies I have found my first job, typical fora young person. It was a work in a big music club with bowling ina city ceter.

I am proud of that, because I was very successful duringthe cooperation with this company.

First steps – First successes

I started with spreading leaflets, but thanksto my involvement, management appreciated myskills and quickly promoted me.

In that way I become rosponsible for guestsservice in club, and finally got down with supply, training new employees and coordinating their workduring big events.

Echo City Center, place of my first work.

Constructing is not a recreation, but working in club hastought me some universal rules and skills:

• self-reliance• proper preparing of work• teamworking• paying attention to safety• working under time-pressure• stubbornness in goals achieving

Me at the bar that I was responsible for

My career in the future

I`m going to find a job related to contracting

of residential and commercial buidings

Next step will be achileving necessary

constructing licences.

In conclusionI`m not afraid of hard work in construction site. There

is a time of achieving skills and experience ahead of me.

I`m trustworthy because everything, that I`ve done, gave me

great basics to start the work as an engineer.
