September 13thIn honor of Mexico's fallen Boy Heroes of

Chapultapec.During the 1846-1848 Mexican-American war, six young military cadets refused to surrender. The protected the Chapultepec castle against the American troops. In the end, on September 13, 1847, five boys had been killed by American troops. The last surviving boy cadet, Juan Escutia, according to accounts, leapt from Chapultapec Castle wrapped in the Mexican flag to protect it from enemy hands.

Indigenous people where the first to inhabit Mexico. But the Spanish arrived in command of Hernán Cortez. Mexicans where oppressed and obligated to work for the Spanish. On the night of September 15, father Miguel Hidalgo rang the bell of his little church, calling everyone to fight for liberty. This was the beginning of the Independence War, which lasted 10 years
