1.) Plan how and where you are going to lift beforehand.
Clear a path if necessary.
2.) Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.
This provides a stable and solid base for lifting
3.) Bend at the knees and keep the back straight.
4.) Test the object for weight and shifting contents.
Allows for the lifter to see how much strength will be
needed.
5.) Keep the package close to the body and grab opposite
corners.
This will provide a more stable and stronger range of lift.

The leg muscles are much stronger than the back muscles and using
them will avoid putting strain on the back muscles.

This will prevent jerking and sudden tightening of muscles.

If you need to turn around with package, pivot at the feet and turn
the entire body.
