  • What is Trello? Trello is a multi-tiered organizational system that allows the management and progression of projects and tasks. Based on a project management system originated by Toyota in the 1950s called kanban, Trello uses boards and cards to represent projects and tasks. The drag-and-drop transition of these items to the next step in the process (or the next person whose attention is required) is designed to ensure that each component of a project is ready when it is needed. With over 1 million users, Trello is used for everything from DIY projects at home to major corporate projects. In a journalism context, Trello helps ensure that a story has the appropriate photos, text, quotes, etc. when it is ready for publication and has gone through all the steps required for a quality publication.

TRELLO MAKES IT EASY TO COMMUNICATE IN THE CLASSROOM AS WELL AS OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL BECAUSE YOU CAN ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT ANYWHERE AND CHAT WITH OTHER USERS. THE TRELLO APP IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL BECAUSE IT KEEPS ME UPDATED ON DUE DATES AND NEW ASSIGNMENTS. I LOVE TRELLO BECAUSE IT HAS PROVIDED TREMENDOUS ORGANIZATION FOR OUR CLASS AND INNOVATED THE WAY WE MANAGE OUR WEBSITE. - SIERRA GOMPERTS, PHOTOGRAPHY EDITOR TRELLO HAS HELPED US TREMENDOUSLY BECAUSE IT HAS IMPROVED COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE STAFF MEMBERS. BEFORE, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STAY IN CONTACT WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS OR PLAN EVENTS WHEN WE WERENT IN CLASS. BUT NOW, EVEN FROM HOME, WRITERS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS HAVE THE ABILITY TO TALK WITH ANYONE THEY NEED. I CANT IMAGINE NOT USING IT AFTER THIS YEAR. - BRYANNA MUNDY, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF TRELLO IS A GREAT TOOL TO SET AND KEEP TRACK OF DUE DATES AS WELL AS MANAGE A STORYS PROGRESS. THE AMOUNT OF DIFFERENT ORGANIZATION METHODS IT ALLOWS IS NEARLY LIMITLESS DUE TO THE CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS PROVIDED. - AJ JOHNSON, MANAGING EDITOR LAST YEAR, WHEN WE DIDNT HAVE TRELLO, IF SOMEONE WAS ABSENT THINGS WOULD FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS. BUT NOW, TRELLO HAS GIVEN US MORE OPPORTUNITY TO COMMUNICATE IN FASTER AND MORE EFFECTIVE WAYS. WE ARE MORE ACCOUNTABLE AND ACCESSIBLE UNDER TRELLOS ORGANIZATION. TALIA CAIN, A&E EDITOR
