That's not a VLE it's a repository.That's not a repository it's a content management system.That's not a CMS it's a VLE.

VLEs were first seen as content management systems for HE Are they? Do they do a good job at content management? Are they anything else (as well)?

VLEs have also been seen as repositories of teaching and learning materials

Repositories for content management? “Better management and sharing of teaching and learning materials by ind

ividual teaching practitioners.” How do repositories and CMS compare, e.g. version control

So, why do VLEs (e.g.) persist? Why don’t we have a CETIS CMS SIG? What are the conditions under which each approach

should thrive (niche).

How do the different types of system involved interact?
