“Climate change

threatens the long-

term survival of all

creatures on Earth,

from polar bears to

sea turtles to

migratory birds to

humans.” –Peter

Fashing.

Is Global Warming a Threat?

Page 3: The Ice is Melting

Global warming has

been a threat to us for

about the last

century. The rapid

burning of fossil

fuels have ruined the

environment and

caused the polar ice

to melt.

Background Information

Page 4: The Ice is Melting

The Main Idea

Even though some

people say that global

warming does not pose

a threat to us, it has

actually jeopardized

Earth's environment,

and is causing many

animals to be added to

the endangered species

list.

Page 5: The Ice is Melting

Is Global Warming Even Real?

Some people don’t believe that global warming is even there, but global warming is an issue that is making a big impact in

our world, especially the Earth’s polar regions.

We Have to Change Our Ways!

Someone could

argue that all of the

Arctic ice won’t

completely melt

away in the NEAR

future, but it still

could eventually, if

we don’t change our

ways soon.

The Water is Rising

“Sea levels are

expected to rise

between 7 and 23

inches by the end of

the century, and

continued melting at

the poles could add

between 4 and 8

inches”. – National

Geographic

What’s the Effects?

The melting of the Arctic ice has

unfortunately killed many of the land

mammals that live there.

Swim Farther!

Polar bears are

having to swim

farther distances in

between ice caps,

causing them to get

easily exhausted

and drown.

Population and Health Dwindling

“Population density of polar bears in one

intensively studied population in Hudson Bay,

Canada, declined by 22 percent over the past

decade alone. Even those at Hudson Bay that

remain alive have suffered from inadequate

nutrition – surviving bears were found to be 15

percent thinner on average than bears in this

population were only a few decades ago”. –Peter

Fashing.

Global warming is a growing threat to the

world we live in. Due to melting ice, polar bears and other Arctic animals have been driven out of their habitat, and masses of them have died as a result. We should try to

stop this worldwide heating to prevent the

extinction of many living creatures.

Conclusion

Page 15: The Ice is Melting

The environment we live in is a very delicate and

complex place, and could crumble if its perfect

balance is broken. We should try to stop this

worldwide heating to prevent the extinction of

many living creatures. Do you think we can stop

it before it’s too late?
