Check out this selected music from Hungary

The singers/bands are put in time order so that you can have a sense of development as you go through them and find that, even if a different country, the trends are the same

Of course, this is a very personal selection: things that I like and/or found with English version or had the patience to translate

ENJOYIt would be great to hear from you if you liked some

Try to have an open mind –

see if you like other kinds of music than

the ones you usually listen to; or you might find new

favourites

Links to videos are usually buttons you need to click on

If I provided translation, it is worth watching the video on the net next to it only, set window accordingly

If video is in English, watch in full screen

If the song is in Hungarian with no translation, I state that with link – still worth listening to them for the music, or video is good

You might go on this music/cultural journey in parts; there is plenty to cover

The Whale Is Flying(in Hungarian)

A favourite

The title is satirical, of course, implying that people are expected to believe anything they are told – the song is actually a criticism of the new order of capitalism in HungaryThe orange mentioned in the lyrics was the symbol of a new emerging party

I am small, I am small,If I grow up, I will kick youMore, more, more, moreThis is not enough.I am trying to get higher and higherOh, this tower is very highRefrainThe whale is flying 2xThis is the command, The orange is ripeningThe whale is flying 2xWho is stupid, stays that way

You love me very much 2xI would like that with you very muchRefrainGive me you little mouthI tear your clothes off, RefrainThe whale is flying 2xEverybody, stand in the line The whale is flying 2xI spit in the big DanubeRefrain 2xThe whale is flying 2xIn circles, in circles flies around the EarthFrom tomorrow the whale is flyingThe newspapers wrote about it

I have learnt, know the answerThe country is small, the trouble is bigRefrainI am small, I am small,If I grow up, I will kick you, RefrainThe whale is flying 2xEverybody, stand in the line The whale is flying 2xI spit in the big DanubeThe whale is flying 2xThis is the command, The orange is ripeningThe whale is flying 2xWho is stupid, stays that way

We should die,But it is not possible:The company does notLet my soul.
