WAYFINDING

Wayfinding means knowing where you are, knowing your destination, following the best route, recognizing your destination, and finding your way back out.

Disorientation is caused when people cannot do any or all of these things, outside or inside complex facilities especially in spaces such as medical centres and transportation hubs where tensions are high and can easily lead to trauma and anxiety. A well designed wayfinding system benefits all the users and stakeholders of any human space system.

ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility is having a barrier free environment where any person irrespective of their physical condition is able to freely move around on her own without hindrance or danger of being hurt.

In a truly inclusive environment people with disabilities such as visual, physical, auditory as well as partial disabilities such as pregnancy and temporary physical issues would be able to navigate easily without assistance and with self confidence and honour.

DISORIENTATION

INCLUSIVE DESIGN

(Inclusive design, design for all, human-centred design, user-centred design, accessible design)

This is not a new genre of design or a design ‘fad’or a specialization;

It is an approach to design in general and an element of business strategy that seeks to ensure that mainstream products, services and environments are accessible to the largest number of people.Good design should be:

Easy to understand, Safe and simple, Easy to use, Fun, Attractive & Fascinating
