“Partnerships for Sustainable Development” is the most significant approach which needs to be utilized for

varied kinds of challenges being faced by the Post 2015 world. The risks posed by the contemporary world urges

for collective action, as we all are associated in an inter-related system where ones action tends to influence a

whole set of other actors in the system. This also entails an additional set of responsibility on each and every

societal actor.

Our actions are no more restricted to our personalized political, economic and geographical boundaries rather

its effects are universal. Thus, to bring an inclusive growth in society “partnerships” are one of the crucial

medium through which stakeholders can realize their responsibilities towards this inter-related system. Business

is one such actor which is foreseen as driver of industrial growth and economy, and are also the ones who are

expected to operate in most ethical manner.

The diverse nature of risks which they pose to society is immense and to be responsible towards these risks,

businesses are re-framing their operation to achieve social inclusiveness, economic viability, environment

sustainability, peace with community so as to bring transformational change in society.

However, it has also been realized that to achieve a society of inclusiveness, businesses need the support of other

multiple stakeholders. Globally, the role of partnerships is being significantly stressed in order to evolve towards

sustainable development. Thus, GlobalHunt Foundation in India is working to promote the “partnerships for

all” mandate within different stakeholders of society. Foundation is primarily working to promote sustainable

solutions within corporate by operating as a knowledge catalyst and advisory for their socially responsible

strategies.

The multi-stakeholder meeting on “Strategic Alliance for Effective CSR” held on 27th February, 2015 was one

such initiative conducted with the support of Ambuja Cement Foundation, to enable all stakeholders and

initiate the importance of corporate-corporate partnership. I would like to extend my special thanks to Ambuja

Cement Foundation for their tremendous support and all the participants from leading businesses for

participating in the alliance meeting.

It has now been well recognized that all stakeholders of society, of which businesses are a crucial part, are moving

towards the common goal of “sustainable development”. Forging collaborations and partnerships for similar

projects is of paramount importance to achieve our goal. At Ambuja Cement, we respect all those partnerships

that have been associated with our projects as because of them we have brought signiificant impact on society.

Ambuja Cement Foundation, registered as a Section 25 not-for-profit is the Corporate Social Responsibility wing

of Ambuja Cement Limited, aims towards energizing, involving and enabling communities to realize their poten-

tial. The “I CAN” attitude of the foundation has led to the vast expansion of the CSR activities reaching to large

population who are deprived of basic necessities such as educational and health facilities.

The foundation to achieve its mission of improving the social and economic conditions of the deprived community

has partnered with varied nature of organizations such as corporates, civil society organizations, research and

training institutions, think tanks, technology partners, government agencies, consultants etc. Partnership with

diverse blend of organizations has given us the confidence to implement our programmes with most accurate effi-

ciency and I would like to thank all ACF partners for bringing that confidence in us. We understand that to bring a

transformational change is society stakeholders of diverse nature are required to form alliances to partner.

Thus, to promote the significance of partnership among other industry leaders Ambuja Cement Foundation col-

laborated with GlobalHunt Foundation to conduct a half day multi-stakeholder meeting on “Strategic Alliance

for Effective CSR” on 27th February 2015. The prime objective of the meeting was to initiate dialogue among

corporate leaders on the topic of partnerships and give them an opportunity to formulate alliances among each

other.

Towards the end, I would like to extend my warm regards to all the participants for sparing their time and coming

forward for the meeting. I look forward for more such kinds of initiations where concrete private-private partner-

ships are forged and stregthened as well as pledges made to work together.

Introducing the participants to GlobalHunt Foundation, Ms. Radhika Ralhan in the initial part of her session

shared some of the key research facts on the current scenario of CSR in India. The analyze has been complied by

researching the CSR activities of more than 500 major companies and the primary method used along the

secondary tools where all kinds of publications shared by the companies on public domains. Moving further, she

explained the diverse kind of initiatives which have been initiated by the companies in the domain of

environment, social and economic sustainability.

She shared how companies prefer to maintain two separate departments of CSR and Sustainability limiting

social and community initiatives under CSR and environment initiatives to Sustainability. The existence of two

separate departments is one among the many challenges which the Indian CSR is witnessing, companies still

require potential kind of manpower to develop a strong sense of Sustainability so to assess their risks which they

impose on society. and adopt measures to mitigate them. However, the need is to conjoin these two domains

and formulate one encompassing department of “Corporate Sustainable Responsibility” Department.

CSR is at a very segmental stage where adequate kind of resources in terms of manpower, operational funds,

technology and practical innovations, public dissemination and right kind of associations are yet to develop.

Thus, the objective of the multi-stakeholder meeting was to initiate steps towards enhancing the domain

through initialising partnerships and collaborations meetings.

The prime agenda of the meeting was to bring corporate leaders together on a platform where they can explore

the possibilities of collaboration on their CSR areas of interest with other coporate leaders. Thus, the entire

meeting was designed in such a way where all the participants were given opportunities to interact with other

participant on “one-on-one basis”. The participants were further requested to provide their insights on

partnerships through a brief collaboration form where diverse areas of collaboration were mentioned.

Ms. Ralhan concluded her session by providing a brief on GlobalHunt Foundation and stated that prime

objective of the foundation is to act as a research and knowledge catalyst in the domain. She wished that the

multi-stakeholder meeting would give each participant an opportunity to formulate significant alliances for their

ongoing CSR programmes.
