STORYLINE

A family saw an Indian old man was beating by a young man on the way

approaching to their hometown because the old man had stolen a row of bread from

his grocery shop. There was quite lot of spectators on the spot watching the dramatic

scene. However, no ones are willing to lend their help to the old man as everyone

knew about the fact that the old man always caught stealing and he is from the

different racial group.

[STEREOTYPE & DISCRIMINATION]

The conflict ended when the police arrived and they figured out the reason that

the old man steal is because of his inability to acquire income to feed his

grandson who has been starving for few days.

[PROSOCIAL BEHAVIOUR]

At the same time, there is a kid hiding at the other side of the scene in his tears

dropping as he saw his grandfather being beaten by the man and can’t make

anything to help his grandfather. He felt anger of his inability to fight back and

help his grandfather and furthermore he shifted his anger towards the spectators

and the young man who didn’t have any sympathize towards his old grandfather

and start to become racism.

[COVARIATION THEORY SITUATIONAL (EXTERNAL)]

The grandparent and grandchild are living in the tent made up of plastic bags

beside the garbage area. After the incident, the old man realize the changes of

his grandchild and even tried to change his extreme thinking towards the other

races.

[PERSUASION]

After a few months, the grandfather had passed away. The young man felt owed

to the grandchild as he shouldn’t treat an old man in that manner although he had

stole his groceries. As a compensate, he was willing to paid the expenses for the

funeral and helped to settle down the grandchild to an orphanage and often visit

him in the weekend. The child was finally aware of his mistakes and changed his

attitude.
