4. WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT? I CARRIED OUT A QUESTIONNAIRE TO FIND OUT WHO WOULD BE THE LIKELY TARGET MARKET FOR MY MAGAZINE. BEFORE I DECIDED MY TARGET AUDIENCE I ASKED A VARIETY OF QUESTIONS BASED ON A MAGAZINE THAT THEY HAVE PURCHASED PREVIOUSLY, ALONG WITH HOW THEY CURRENTLY FEEL ABOUT PURCHASING NEW MAGAZINE. THIS WOULD GIVE ME AN INSIGHT TO HOW MY TARGET MARKET WOULD BE AND ALSO HELP WITH THE DIRECTION OF THE MAGAZINE I WOULD TAKE. ONE OF THE QUESTIONS I ASKED MY CLIENTS WAS ‘HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU PURCHASE IN A DAY’ .I ASKED THIS QUESTION BECAUSE I WANTED TO ESTIMATE HOW MUCH DISPOSABLE INCOME MY POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WILL HAVE. FROM THE QUESTIONNAIRE THE RESULTS THAT I OBTAINED SHOWED THAT 50% OF MY CLIENTS PURCHASED MAGAZINES THREE TIMES A DAY. AS THE MAJORITY OF THEM PURCHASE THE MAGAZINE THERE TIMES A DAY IT REFLECTS THE SOCIAL CLASS THEY COULD BE IN. THE AGE OF THE PEOPLE WHO I INTERVIEWED VARIED BETWEEN THE AGES OF 16-25.THIS WAS BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE MY TYPICAL AS THEY WOULD HAVE DISPOSABLE INCOME TO PURCHASE THE MAGAZINES. I CARRIED OUT A QUESTIONNAIRE OUTLINING THE DECISIONS I WOULD MAKE BASED ON THE MAGAZINES TARGET AUDIENCE. I FOUND OUT THAT MY TARGET MARKET WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY £2-£3, SO I THEREFORE DECIDED THAT IT WAS THE PRICE I WILL CHARGE MY MAGAZINE AT.

I used various images and texts on my magazine front cover to attract my audiences. When carrying out my questionnaire I found out that most of my target customers where into Hip-Hop and R&B music this is what gave me the idea of setting my genre of the magazine to be Hip-Hop and R&B. To give the impression of the music magazine to be a Hip-Hop and R&B I decided to come up with a cool, catchy masthead that will convey the genre of the magazine and also be attractive to my target audience. The mast head that I chose was from a selection of various mastheads. The decision was based on the results that I retrieved when obtaining the questionnaire of the music magazine. The favourite masthead that most of my target audience liked the sound of was the ‘FREESTYLE!’ .This was duo ton the fact that it gave a hip-hop feel to it and it is very well-known with teenagers as being a type of dance. This is use of gratification that I carried out when finding out the desires of my customers.

This masthead is able to attract my customers in the form of escapism. As music is very widely listed to by all ages, by choosing a specific genre I am able to easily attract the listeners of Hip-Hop and R&B music.

When construction my magazine I used various digital technologies from Google to Page Plus. Photoshop was used for the major production of my music magazines .Photoshop is a programme that is used by designers and editors. By using Photoshop I managed to turn a mere magazine into a more realistic magazine. The manipulation of images is a skill that I used when combining two images in one .Photoshop allowed me to perfume this with the tools that it had on it such as the ;cutting tool, the knife, magnifying glass, cropping tool and resizing the images. Another software alongside Photoshop was Page plus. Page plus is another image editing similar to Photoshop but it is mainly used to re arrange images rather than fully transforming them like you can in Photoshop. I used Page plus to form the contents page and the double page spread of my magazine. I have noticed the text in Page plus show up clearer and smother than in Photoshop. In Photoshop the texts are very pixelated when you zoom in it, whereas in Page plus the text is more professional as it is a vector based software like Microsoft word. This is also another reason why I preferred to form my contents page and double page spread on page plus as it had the most texts on them.Blogger was also used in my coursework portfolio. It played a major part of it as it is the place I would have put all my work from the primary research and the final media product. Blogger allows me to display the work in a profession l manner where it can be viewed by web surfers. They are also able to contribute to the blog by commenting their thoughts and give feedback.Goggle as used to obtain a much secondary images as possible for my mock music magazines. Not much skill is required for this as it is just searching and gathering.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I wanted the models to look as if they were on a stage in the arena starring as Beyoncé (left) and Nicki Minaj (right). However I did not have a picture of two models behind a dark back ground so I therefore had to take another image and manipulate it with the one that originally had a dark background .I did this by using a lasso tool on Photoshop and draw around the model that I wanted to star as Nicki Minaj, which was originally a different picture all together. When that was done I selected the background the image using the ‘select’ tool from the main image and deleted it. This left me with a white background that my image was on. As it was on a different layer I was able to move it around and place it in front of another image. When placing the image on the side that was available for it to go on I found out that the arm of my model did not fit completely .My first though was to resize the image so that it stayed within the box so I had to. However by doing this I was deforming the picture and made the model look out of proportion and unrealistic as she appeared too slim from the original. So I therefore had to find another alternative which will allow the edited picture to be transformed to the other image and make it look part of it without it being resized or cropped. Photoshop has multiple tools that could allow me to find a way to the problem. The simplest solution was to just colour the section that was left white when the edited image was on the picture. With I used the magnifying glass to zoom in the picture and colour all the white spaced in black. The end result that I got from this was satisfying and demonstrated the use of Photoshop
