Schizophrenia Definition Schizophrenia is a severe brain disorder in which people interpret reality

abnormally. It is classified separately form other disorders because it is not easily to

categorized as and anxiety or mood disorder. Schizophrenia is characterized by the inability to separate reality from and a

non-reality Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and

extremely disordered thinking and behavior.

Causes

No one knows the exact cause of schizophrenia, possible factors : Generics Women infected with the influenza virus during the pregnancy are more

likely to give birth to children who develop a disorder. Schizophrenics brains also contain large fluid filled areas than their

healthy brain counterparts.

Delusions is a false belief Some common delusions include: Being cheated Being harassed Being poisoned Being spied upon Being plotted against

Schizophrenic Hallucinations Hallucinations , is a nonexistent stimulus that is perceived as real. The most common schizophrenic hallucination is hearing voices, however

that patient may also have visual hallucinations where they see a persona or object that does not exist.

Hallucinated voices often interact with the patient by : *Commenting on their behavior*Ordering them to do things*Warning of impending dangers*Talking to other voices about the patient

Treating Schizophrenia

Antipsychotic this drugs, have some mild side effects including drowsiness, weight gain, jitters, movement problems, and muscles contractions.

Therapy and counseling also are effective.

Live with Schizophrenia

Many people diagnosed with schizophrenia are still able to live a normal life.

They have to take their medications and abstain from drugs and drinking.

The Beautiful Mind The beautiful mind movie, was created on the life of John Nash who suffers of

Schizophrenia . The movie drew the audience into Nash’s delusions, with the imagined people

and conspiracies seeming to be completely real. Nash is diagnosed with Schizophrenia and his delusions are revealed to the

audience.

The movie documents Nash’s struggles with his schizophrenia and becomes a professor at Princeton as well as the recipient of a Novel Prize for one economic theories.

The movie shows a decent portrayal of a schizophrenia and helps viewers understand how reality can become so mixed up in the mind of a Schizophrenic.
