encouragement, access, tradition, family club memberships, positive experiences with family members & financial backing.

to join in, starting an activity with a friend is easier because it can give confidence and be more fun.

5.Resource Influences Are resources available? The physical activity you take part in will be dependent on

whether the facilities you need are in your area/town. Funding for new facilities is dependent on many factors including funding, expected use and demand for the facility.

Do you have Access? In areas where facilities are good, there is a greater chance

that people will participate. With more people involved, there is better possibility of a higher standard which therefore attracts more players and coaches. In a smaller town, the interest may be there, but if there are not people to use a new facility it will not be built; if there are know transport links to a facility the opportunity to play may also be lost.

Resource Influences

Where are the resources located?Certain activities lend themselves to certain

environments. Outdoor pursuit centres can be placed I areas where there are hills, lakes, forest etc.. which are needed for those activities. However, if the demand is high, artificial facilities can be created e.g. The Castle Climbing Centre in London.

How much time do you have?Depending on the type of job you have; you may have

blocks off time to participate I activities like mountaineering, or several short periods within a week which may lend itself to being member of a gym or leisure club.
