Easter in Slovakia
Easter is the greatest religion fest in Slovakia.This fest
starts on Thursday and finishes on MondayIt seems horrible but we
very like this tradition...
Zelen tvrtok Green Thursday
We carry about our healty this day we usually eat spinach,
kabbage and all green vegetable because of our healty. We dont eat
meat!!!
This days you can hear churches bells beat last time.
People should get up early morning and walk without their shoes
cross the green grass to be healty all year.
At this day you should not borrow anything nor bikker with
anyone you will have always full of money in your walet

Vek Piatok Good Friday
This day is sad day for us, because it is symbol when Jesus
Christ died. This day is usually calm and sad.
This day everybody should hold lent and eat nothing all day. (it
has the medicine meaning too..) We shouldnt watch Tvs, nor listen
to the radios...
On Good Friday people should wash to the creek to avoid
diseases. Sometimes boys dive to the botton to take a stone with
his mouth and then the stone throw awai with his left hand not to
pain their teeth...
This day women spin threads and sew shirts for their men to
protect them before storm and protect them before bad spirits.

The name White Saturday is because Jezus Christ was death in his
white robe.
People clean their houses and decorate them. We bake sweet cake

Vekonon nedea - Easter Sunday
It is the biggest religion celebration during the year. We
celebrate Christs resurrection. The churches decided that the
easter will be always first Sunday after spring full moon. Because
of that is Easter every year in other date. This day people hurry
up to the church with their easter lambs, eggs, wine... to sanctife
them
Each visit get a piece of sait food. And some food is given to
fields or garden, and to watter. All together eat boiled easter egg
with little willow wand to not forget whom he/she ate the easter
egg and not to stray and return next year again...
Vekonon pondelok Easter Monday
On Easter Monday is free day. It is not allow to work, clean, to
not wash yourself!!!Boys and men go with string to girls and women
and they whip them because of the Jesus Christ resurrection. It is
symbol of wake up and celebrate our salvation. The strings are made
by fresh willow wicker.
After whipping boys take the girl to the creek and they splash
her with cold water. Sometimes when boys have bad luck they are
splashed first... but it is depended from girls skills and
strategy...
After this act boy squirt the girls with a good smelled parfum
and girls give to the boys reward the easter egg, or cake... what
who likes...
This tradition is devided according to region of Slovakia. In
eastern part is splashing and in western part is whipping.

Easter Monday in Slovakia
After splashing girls give to the boys the ribon on the
whip.
According to numbers of ribbon everybody knows how many girls
were splashed and whiped. How many girls were whiped with this
whip???
