2. The Surrealists saw the subconscious mind as a wellspring of imagination in order to unite dreams and waking life in "an absolute reality, a surreality. Both Surrealism and fantasy or science fiction use a mixture of realism and fantastic elements. The main difference is that fantasies bring fresh presentations of the everyday world we live in. Surrealism takes us to another world entirely, one which is unreal and exists only in the mind. Harry Potter is fantasy. Alice in Wonderland is surrealism.
