Types of Renaissance Music: SecularVocal Music- became increasingly popular-important leisure activity-every educated person was expected to play an instrument and read notation-written for groups of solo voices and for solo voice with the accompaniment of one or more instruments-word painting was common, delighted in imitating natural sounds such as bird calls and street cries

The Renaissance BALLET-also known as Fa-La-a dance-like song for several solo voices-mostly HOMOPHONIC in texture with the melody in the highest voice-the same music is repeated for each stanza of the poem, and the syllables Fa-La are used as refrain (hence the name)
