Class’?

Class’?This course is probably not like most courses you’ve taken. It is designed in modules.



The intent is to help you by concentrating on the areas you need to work on, while letting you rapidly move on from content you may already know.

How a Modularized Class

Works


WorksContent is divided into modules.



Think of these as small chunks of the math you need to learn—usually several sections, but less than a chapter.




The very first thing you will want to do is look over the textbook to refresh yourself with the material.

Also, you will have an assignment that consists of watching the videos and working through a couple of examples before you can take the pretest.

What do you do if you finish a

module early?You should rework the

homework and review, improving your score, and even the Quiz. If you have everything at 100%, you can ask your teacher if you can move ahead early.

The Final

The final is comprehensive and covers the entire class. It will be given the last week of class.

In an Internet browser, navigate to http://www.MyMathLab.com

If you’ve previously taken an online math course at Mendocino College, you already have an account. However, you still should follow these instructions to register your new course on MyMathLab.

You will need two things:

1. Course ID (From Etudes)

2. Access Code (From the MyLab packet included with the textbook or purchased seperately)

Requirements1. Should you Buy a Textbook?

Not necessarily, because an online version of the book is available in MyLab with just the Access Code. Here are your options:

Buy a textbook – The biggest advantage of having a book is that you can study offline. And if you buy it new at the Mendocino College bookstore (in Ukiah, Lakeport, or Willits), it comes bundled with a MyLab Access Code.

Get a Used Book – This is fine, but you also will need to have your own MyLab Access Code, since the codes are linked to a specific student.

Buy a stand-alone code – This is a less expensive option, and gets you into the course where you can use the online textbook (downside: can’t scroll, must click page to page.) You may purchase it at the Mendocino College bookstore, or online with a credit card during the MyLab registration process.

[Note: If you plan to buy a textbook off-campus, check your course syllabus for the correct ISBNs to be sure you get the book and an access code.]

What if you are unable to get

a book right away?If you are unable to purchase a book or an access code right away, you can (and must, so that you do not get behind) utilize a temporary 14-day access code.

You will find the option for this when you are going through the procedure of accessing the class.

When asked for an access code, you will see an option for the temporary code.

You must upgrade to a full access code within the 17 days, or you risk not being able to complete the class.
