The Model for Vocational and Technical Education

The model for vocational and technical education is:

flexible,corresponding to the general reform process of the

Romanian education system,able to contribute to the increase of the mobility of work,an open system which allows a high degree of

adaptability of the specialized stuff to the technical and technological evolution;

deeply connected to the Romanian and European cultural values.

The formal system of education and training in Romania

The formal system of education and training is based on a new Law of education (no.1/2011) including a compulsory education of 10 grades (including the 9th grade).

In the actual transition period, until starting the implementation of the new law, the compulsory education has 10 grades (including the 10th grade, containing a basic technological training of 2 years, as part of compulsory education).

The system modernization

Has as MAJOR OBJECTIVE the development of the consolidated education and training system in order:

Career develoment (progressive pathway with no dead ends)Lifelong learning through multiple exits and entrances, based

on prior learning acquisitions (not yet operational the recognition of achievements from non formal and informal contexts)

Lifelong learning due to its organization based on the NQF (under construction) - TVET is designed as part of a training package: job readiness means adding on- the- job training

Double qualification opportunities, academic and professional recognition- upper secondary TVET graduates passing accademic examination (baccalaureate) entitle to continue studies through tertiary university education
