Making School Cool Again!
Working together to break the prison mentality.
Created by: Rush Sullivan
Target: Change the Student’s Perception of Scott County High School
Students and Teachers seem stuck in a rut
Teacher morale has declined and it is negatively affecting the students› Decreased student
participation in school activities
› Lack of inter-departmental collaborationDoesn’t this look like fun is right
around the corner?
Frustration Abounds!
This is my mortal enemy!
This is usually filled with IEPsand surveys!
I Want Students and Teachers to Start Enjoying School Again Throughout the
course of the year, I want to:› Promote school
activities to students and teachers
› Work across departments to plan activities and collaboration
› Get school spirit back into the classroom and the school
Worksheets, a student’s dream whenThey come to school in the morning!
Where to Start? Work with
administration and teacher leaders to establish norms
Get students to feel like we are on the journey together
Encourage teachers and students to be the change, not wait on it
It might not look like fun, but if every teacherwould do something like this students wouldhave a consistent transition from class to class.
We See It on Occasion in the ClassroomTeachers need to be people too!Hard to believe we actually have live outside of school
Let students take the leadIn decorating the room!

What It Means for Us?
Teacher morale improves=classroom enthusiasm improves
Student attitudes improve=Student participation improves› Hopefully transfers to
reduced disciplinary and academic issues
The community gets behind us again› If students are proud of
their school, the community takes pride in their school as well Friday nights shouldn’t be the only time the
community and school get together!!!!!!!!
I Know We Can Do It!
Believe it or not, students do have pride in their school, they just need us to give them the confidence to display it.
As teachers get together and establish positive relationships, students will pick up on it and see that we are in it together.
Nothing is more important than getting the school, community, and students to move forward together!
